And didn't we have a discussion a while back where you said that the World Cup isn't about deciding the best team? It's about the team that scores the most goals, something which can be affected by the teams you play and luck? So saying that a team doesn't deserve to win is nonsensical as the competition is not structured in such a way that the best team wins anyway.

"The finals" = the tournament proper. You asked a question I gave you the answer to the question you asked. There are two phases - qualification and the finals. The finals are the thing we've been discussing for the past month. The final is the last match.

You asked if they had won, would they have deserved to win and I said yes, by default because they would have won the game in that scenario. Croatia did not win the final. It was a hypothetical question that you asked.

The best team does not always win in cup compeitions.

The match was technically a draw and so a period of 30 minutes extra time was played, because the match was a draw. If you had put a bet on at the bookies for Croatia to win on the usual win/lose/draw markets you'd have lost your money (because the match was a draw).

If an end result of 2-1 is a draw, the I understand even less about this sport than I thought I did :laughing:
