Are you British or Canadian? Cause I see a lot of Canadians who seem to think they get to take credit for British accomplishments. Canadians can have being badasses in WW1 but don't push it.

Dude even Americans don't know anything about Maryland. I know Ori hates it but I couldn't tell you the first thing about it and its my neighbor.

Hey, Hillary Clinton likes Maryland and... no, wait, that's not a good thing.

How come Ori hates it? Is he from Washington? As for Virginia, well, they did lose the Civil War. Maryland 1 Virginia 0

Apparently Maryland is just depressing trash and the people are awful. And Virginia basically is America tbh.

In all seriousness teachers who just teach the book version of the War of 1812 tend to miss how impactful it was. That’s why we still use the craziest oxymoron we ever came up with: Jacksonian Democracy. I wish I had a video of some of my lectures about it. I ranted and raved like a madman in front of some profoundly disinterested kids. I did create little brigades of smart kids who ****ing hate Andrew Jackson to this day though. I bet I was the most vitriolic anti Jackson junior high history teacher in the entire state. If they learned one thing for those four weeks it was that I hated that mother****ers guts.

Yeah, I'm not a big Andrew Jackson fan either. He's the primary reason I will never be a Populist.

How did a thread about soccer (football) turn into a discussion about Andrew Jackson?

As American history classes tend to gloss over everything bad that America did they never really go over Jackson and I've always found a lot of American history pre-WW1 to be dry and dull (probably because all the interesting, non-Revolutionary and Civil War stuff is ignored and left boring as a result) so I really never learned much about him beyond the most basic stuff about the Battle of New Orleans and the Trail of Tears. So please rant about him for a bit. He's always sounded like a right ****.
