Cuthbert 06-15-2018 01:44 PM

Unbelievable.

And Messi is playing tomorrow.

Cuthbert 06-15-2018 01:54 PM

Well that was an absolute classic tbh.

Well done all involved.

Now let's see if Messi can match that hat trick.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-15-2018 02:10 PM

wild game

Trollheart 06-15-2018 02:17 PM

Superb game. If Batty watched that, he'd see why we love football, and the World Cup in particular. Gutted for the Spaniards though. The old story: can't let your concentration slip even for a moment, so much moreso when Ronaldo is in the opposing team.

Spain 3, Ronaldo 3
They better hope nothing happens to their talisman.

Trollheart 06-15-2018 02:19 PM

Worth keeping a running list of fixtures/results in the OP?

Cuthbert 06-15-2018 02:27 PM

Might edit them in.

Tomorrow's games:

France vs Australia
Argentina vs Iceland
Peru vs Denmark
Croatia vs Nigeria

Picks in bold.

****. I was wrong. You’re betting on a team to win and a draw goes to the house. What a clean-up collecting all bets on both sides!

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 08:55 AM

Leo :(

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-16-2018 08:59 AM

ronaldo > messi

mate ronaldo can put a team on his back, messi can’t even bury a pen against iceland :D :D :D

just kidding btw, i think the messi vs ronaldo debate is silly. especially when Anthony Martial is better than the pair of ‘em.

Goofle 06-16-2018 09:07 AM

Iceland are just one of those teams. Ronaldo would have done nothing against them as well.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-16-2018 09:09 AM

imo ronaldo would’ve done nothing for 89 minutes, dove in the 90th, bagged a free kick to win it and set fan boys everywhere off on the twittersphere.

usually how it goes.

Trollheart 06-16-2018 09:15 AM

Still have to say currently it's
Ronaldo 3, Messi 0
Almost Messi -2, since he missed both a free and a penalty.

Bad performance from Argentina, though I have to admit since last tournament I've been rooting for the Icelanders. Fair play to them; think they could go a long way this time.

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 09:17 AM

Messi has never been under so much pressure and criticism in his entire career imo.

The whole world is doubting him and laying into him. He has to step up.

rubber soul 06-16-2018 09:19 AM

I saw a soccer game Messi was in once on TV. The announcer must have had a man crush on him because every time Messi touched the ball, he'd keep screaming, MESSI! as if he was the messiah or something.

I have to turn on the TV; I usually watch the World's Cup.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-16-2018 09:24 AM

i think people take foregranted how bad certain parts of both Portugal and Argentina’s teams are. the way Argentina was forcing the ball to messi was absolutely embarrassing. yes, he is the best player in the world (after Martial ofc) but he is not the only one who can shoot the ball. let Messi control the pace of the game but do not force him to be your entire offense. it is unfair, because no player, regardless of how good you are, is going to beat a team 1vs11.

except Martial.

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 09:51 AM

I think that penalty will affect Messi. He has never seemed mentally strong to me.

I'd like to be proven wrong but I worry that will get to him.

never really got to witness R9 during the glory years but ive heard that before. i don’t think it’s fair for me to compare a player i haven’t really seen play live much though.

Saw him in his pomp, was quicker and more explosive than Messi. More skill moves, scored basically a goal a game at a time when that didn't happen and he was also younger than Messi/Ronaldo when he did it.

Messi betters him in more areas, dribbling, balance, technique, passing, creativity, vision and work ethic.

But I believe if Ronaldo didn't have those knee injuries he would have been the greatest ever. You just don't see players as good as he was at 20/21. We never actually saw his peak.

Messi > Diego > Luiz Ronaldo > Best > everyone else.

It's a phrase credit card companies use when they pre-approve you for a card.

What do we think for Messi then? It's 1-0 to Ronaldo in this World Cup.
Is Messi gonna hit back?

And what about Sir Harry Edward Kane, of England?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-16-2018 10:43 AM

i think both of them are playing on teams that will underperform and their numbers won’t be anything too great because of that. ronny gets a boost because he bagged 3 in 1 but he won’t continue like that. Griezy will be a big goal scorer, just watch.

OccultHawk 06-16-2018 01:13 PM

Alright

Money talks

Nigeria upsets Croatia

A tiny white country vs a huge black country

This is a 4 to 1 payout no brainer

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 01:17 PM

Nigeria are a terrible side.

rubber soul 06-16-2018 01:21 PM

My best internet friend is from Croatia so naturally they have to win :D

And also their squad has an average age of about 40.

Most successful country in the u17 World Cup. Five time champions.

Strange how that success doesn't carry on to the first team.

Obafemi Martins is about 43 imo.

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 02:28 PM

See that foul? :D

Brainless.

Penalty Croatia.

2-0 Modric game over.

Cuthbert 06-16-2018 02:58 PM

3 out of 4 today a Messi penalty done me.

Tomorrow's games:

Costa Rica vs Serbia
Germany vs Mexico
Brazil vs Switzerland

My picks in bold. Germany/Brazil should be bankers obviously.

:yikes:
He's either 43 or he isn't. Can't be in your opinion, Monkey Man!

Some good games tomorrow from 4pm. When do your lads hit the stage?

OccultHawk 06-17-2018 07:07 AM

Go Mexico

Kill the Adolfs!

Could be a draw this one Hawk. Germany can start off slow. Should still have enough, hope Timo Werner gets some minutes.
