So, I used to follow the SPL Rangers in the mid-late 2000's. It just got harder to follow them when I could never watch their games in America and I moved on. I come back later this year and hear they're been relegated for financial reasons. I'm still unclear about what exactly happened and if someone had some sparknotes for that, that'd be awesome.
But anyway, now that ESPN regularly airs Premier League games and I can much more easily follow a team, I want to follow one of them. I'm pretty much neutral, so if anyone wants to sway me to their side or away from anther side... I'm all ears. |

Re: Rangers, in the 00's I think it was, their owners basically said "for every pound Celtic spend, we'll spend five", and... they did. The general consensus is that they brought it on themselves. They really did get into serious trouble though, went into administration, had points docked, the lot, there was talk of them having to fold completely. |

Though I'm also a Villa fan, I wouldn't recommend following them ET unless you're cool with heartburn, ulcers and heart palpitations!
![]() There are always the big four: Man United, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea. Add to that I guess Tottenham Hotspur and Everton for teams that are really doing well this season, and there's a lot to choose from. It really depends on what you want. Man U are more than likely to win the league this year, but lots of people hate them because they're ALWAYS winning and come across as arrogant (cue caustic reply from Right-Track!); Man City won last year but are showing signs of slowing down and it seems an impossible task that they might rally and overtake Man U: the gap, as Mostly Autumn once said, is too wide. Liverpool play some great football but have tended to underachieve in the last few seasons, Chelsea have a new manager the fans hate but are playing very well, and Spurs and Everton are a joy to watch. So as I say it depends on what you want. Villa are sliding down into relegation and missing every opportunity to get out of trouble, but I guess if you want a challenge they might suit you. Expect frustration and bitten nails if you start supporting them, though. Plus even at their best they never do much better than mid-table. I love 'em but I wouldn't advise or encourage anyone to follow what is, really, at this point, close to a lost cause. Anyway, you need any further info or advice let us know. TH

I support Southampton, because they are my local team and are capable of playing well, but they can be hard work. I would say watch a few matches and you will soon see who you find agreeable. Many overseas fans prefer the bigger clubs, but they don't necessarily have the most enjoyable style.

Swansea are good to watch, have a fleshed out squad and play really good football for their...origins?history?squad? Point is they're doing better than expected which is always a good thing. Or liverpool, they're coming back and have finally got their style sorted (not to jinx todays game of course...) |
