Some choices here will be seen as controversial, maybe stupid, but I don't have the footballing memory you guys do and have probably forgotten many important players. Still, I think this could be a good team...

Henry
Shearer

Gerrard
Lampard
Fabregas
Juninho

McGrath
Keane
Adams
Carragher

Seaman

Interesting stuff about Suarez and indeed it is a cultural thing for him. I've spent a fair amount of time in Latin America including Uruguay and by European standards these are racist cultures and everybody knows there place in society there. They usually get along fine, but that's because everybody more or less knows their place in society. What Suarez said wouldn't have got much attention back in his homeland, but the dickhead has spent enough time in both Holland and England to know this type of attitude is not acceptable here and he sure as well knew what he was doing when he insulted Evra. Also as Right Track said and I mentioned this some time ago, the situation was dealt with terribly by Kenny Dalglish at the time.

I see everybody's putting up teams, so I'll do one a bit later.

Not at all. Every Arsenal player mentioned is the best ever in the PL in their position.

For an all-time PL team your defence and GK is rotten. The midfield is also nowhere near good enough but can't really argue with the strikers.

Seriously? Adams, one of THE finest Arsenal defenders of all time, and Paul McGrath, who was pretty untouchable in his day? Carragher I still rate, and sure there are probably better defenders but I couldn't think of that many and didn't want to just copy the teams others were putting together.

As for Seaman, once voted "the safest hands in football" --- you don't rate him? And you're an Arsenal fan? I readily admit I don't have the footballing knowledge the rest of you have, and came to it late (about 1990 or thereabouts) but even so, I thought it was an okay team, no?

Anyone else agree?

Well Goofle would have been in nappies then and I was still 3 years away from hatching so you've been following football the longest here.
Assuming Fluffy Kittens is no older than either myself or Goofle.

I hope you're saying this in jest.

I would say I am the biggest football fan here from what I gather from comments generally, not that this means I have superior opinions, I will have just consumed more football in general.

And I am not joking. There isn't a better PL player than any I named in my team in their respective position. The only arguable ones are Beckham possibly ahead of Ronaldo and RVN getting in ahead of Bergkamp.

How did you come to this conclusion?

I don't think I've revealed much about myself on here including club loyalties or how much I do or don't watch the game.

I have played football all my life too. I have refereed matches. I don't think this means all that much unless you study how the game works on a technical/tactical level by watching it.

I am going by what people are saying. Like thinking Gerrard/Giggs were better players than Vieira/Pires. I am not saying anyone on here doesn't have a clue, I am just trying to say that I think some of the comments are wrong.

Obviously people can disagree and have their own preference - just like with musical discussion - but I think football is a much more quantifiable subject.
