I just spent some time reading the MLS Salary Cap rules.

1) it’s confusing af
2) they do need to raise it (but incrementally to keep balance in the league)

My team Atlanta United has a 25 year old bad ass from Venezuela

Josef Martinez

We might lose him to Europe but I wish him the best.

Btw, did you know Venezuela has never qualified for the World Cup?

They pump a bunch of dudes into MLB (baseball)

From what I understand, in MLS you can have something like three players paid an obscene amount in the squad and then the rest are on a fraction of that. So you will see Villa, Lampard and Kaka on the same team and the rest are absolute no marks. At least it was this way a few years ago.

I am aware Kaka doesn't play with David Villa or Lampard btw just using those as an example.

Yeah - they’re called designated players (just read)

Quote:
The Designated Player Rule allows clubs to acquire up to three players whose total compensation and acquisition costs exceed the Maximum Salary Budget Charge, with the club bearing financial responsibility for the amount of compensation above each player's Salary Budget Charge.
That’s pretty silly actually
