I would counter by saying he hasn't proven he is above Everton's level.
And I pretty much watched none of Spain or Belgium's games at the World Cup so it has no bearing on my thoughts.

Well, thats kinda my point, He hasnt had the opportunity to prove that. I don't think theres any evidence to date that he can't cut it.
His sale could well turn out to be good business for Chelsea while his potential is enough to add a few mill to his price, or Chelsea could regret letting him go, regardless of the price. If he bangs in another 15 or 20 goals for Everton next season I'd say he'd be looking well worth the price. |

They spent a little more on Diego Costa who is one of the Top 5 center forwards in the World. 28 mil for Luakaku is bonkers money.
Regardless, Chelsea have absolutely killed the transfer window. Amazing stuff so far, and I don't think they are finished.

I think it depends what happens now, as far as Lukaku is concerned. Costa wasn't one of the best strikers in the world before last season. Lukaku had a great season at Everton last season and is only 21, 4 years younger. If he keeps scoring goals in those 4 years then I think he'll be well worth it.
And in 4 years time clubs will be paying more than that for 18 year old full backs. Oh wait... |

At least Lukaku has Premier League experience and has proved he can score goals and thrive in the more physical league.
I can't see why if Torres can't succeed at Chelsea, Costa can. Lukaku seems like the ideal long term replacement to Drogba. I can't understand Mourinho's desire to get rid of him. |

ftr I've included Costa in a FF team I have started so if he flops now I can confirm I will be slightly annoyed and not really do anything about it.
Included Delph, Okore and Grealish too, my bias is going to see me have a Moyes-esque season. |
