But anyway, now that ESPN regularly airs Premier League games and I can much more easily follow a team, I want to follow one of them. I'm pretty much neutral, so if anyone wants to sway me to their side or away from anther side... I'm all ears.
Rangers weren't paying their taxes. Or specifically Craig Whyte the owner wasn't. Either way Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs didn't look too kindly on this and after going into administration and failing to bring in a new financial consortium to pull the club out of debt (They were eventually overtaken by the Sevco group), Rangers were promptly placed into liquidation.
The league penalty for this was relegation to the bottom tier of Scottish football, so just as Livingston found out a few years prior, you don't pay your taxes, you don't play Premier League football.

I think once they've won the league --- one of only what, four, to do so? --- they have to qualify as one of the big four, no? Did you get your trophy?

United
Blackburn
Chelsea
Arsenal
City

In the Premier League era anyway.

Three of those are sugar daddy winners and don't count as far as I'm concerned. Ruining football. In terms of league placing and the quality they have, City are undoubtedly now in the Premier League elite. However they are a joke club and will never be as genuinely big as the likes of United, Tottenham, Arsenal, the scousers x 2, Leeds and of course the Villa.

City are like a neighbour who wins the lottery and flaunts his wealth with nice cars, 50 inch TV and building a pub in his garden with a pool table in it while you have worked 9-5 all your life.

Depends what happens in the next few years. Especially with the new financial fair play stuff.
