Not to drag this debate on for ages but Rooney has always been a hot and cold player, he has had one or two bursts of form since the World Cup which lasted about three weeks, other than that he's been average to poor.

He is just not the fiery, exciting player he was pre-2005. Remember how he would run at defenders, take them on, put his foot through his shots instead of trying to dink it or scuffing it altogether? He hasn't fulfilled his potential at all and I don't see why van Persie would have affected his form. If anything you'd think it'd rejuvinate him not having to carry the team all the time, but no.

Robin plays the position where Rooney is most effective, and has had to develop/regress his game to play as a second striker. This position has never been his strong point.
