Kieran Richardson gave the ball away time and time again in that Norwich game. I mean he must have given away possession about 10 times in he first half, if not more. There was some poor individual performances. However we weren't playing an attacking game. Bruce had spent money on two new strikers, both were sitting on the bench. He's even started games with no strikers on the field this season, rather than play his new guys.
When he made his change, gave us more in attack, we responded well and could have turned that game around had the change come sooner and we had more time on our hands. I would just love for Steve Bruce to accept more of the blame sometimes. It would make it easier to deal with the mistakes he makes. But hey, when Kieran was giving the ball away he was playing out of position at left-back. He was standing in for our usual left-back, right-back Phil Bardsley. We arent scoring enough goals, maybe because he's often started with over £10m worth of strikers on the bench, and left midfielder/attacking midfielder Stephane Sessegnon as a lone striker. To say I dont understand some of his decisions would be putting it mildly. |

Oh dear. I'd better start by saying that it was a good game! I was only watching it intermittently, so I may not have everything right! First of all, Chrystal Palace were easily the better side. They played excellently, and for all I might say, we were disgraceful. Their first goal was fantastic, I blinked a few times afterwards! Beautiful free kick, IMO. The second wasn't impressive, but shows just how far we're going to have to climb this season.
I think for singling out: I'm going to have to pick Smalling. He really wasn't up to it. He was left spinning a lot of the time, made some very silly errors and probably shouldn't have played. I think he's got a long way to go. At the end of the day, it's only the carling cup and no one gives a sh*t! |

Anyway, the big story of the day; BBC Sport - Euro 2012: England begin tournament against France That's France, Sweden and Ukraine in our group for Euro '12. It's a tough group, but a doable one. It really could go either way for us. I'm just not gonna bother calling it this time - we got a dead easy group for the last world cup, and look how that turned out. That said, I was still pulling for a spot in group A all the same. |

Poor Ireland!
I don't think we would normally be good enough to beat France, but after that Domenech disaster they've struggled to sort their team out properly. I hope we can pull ourselves together for this. |

Whatever happens with England, I can't wait for the Euros. European Championships are always so much better for the neutral than world cups, and looking at this draw I don't think this tournament's going to disappoint. |

I think it will be tough.
But I'll be looking forward to it once the football season's over and Everton have finished fourth!!! I can see England losing the France game, beating Ukraine, but I'm not sure about the Sweden game. I reckon it could be a draw and possibly go to gd or something..... Is that possible....? Runners up on goal difference with 4 points ....? Last edited by evi1gun; 12-02-2011 at 05:07 PM. |
