BBC Sport - Football - Newcastle 2-2 Wigan
^ Still livid at conceding a goal in the last seconds to a bloody corner to be frank. Still, 8 or 9 more wins'll keep the latics up and, bugger what some might say, I think the lads are more than capable of doing that. |

You've got to be among the favourties, if not THE favourites for the drop now but you have looked to have a lot more fight in you's over the last few weeks. Over the next three months we might start to see teams like West Brom and Blackpool stutter and begin to fall off the pace a little and so I don't think Wigan are doomed just yet.

^ I hope for Man U's sake that won't be the case come January, but I've seen plenty of similarly strange transfers heading out of Old Trafford before, and this one's looking more likely by the day.

Whatever Rooney's reasons are for wanting to leave may well remain untold.
It seems all was well until his return from the World Cup. It was as early as August that Ferguson was aware of the players intentions. Could it be Rooney went against the wishes of Ferguson following his injury against Bayern? According to Ferguson there was no falling out. Has he been tapped up by another club offering him massive wages? Unlikely as United's improved offer was apparently substantial. I suspect his wife has a hand in this. Since his indiscretion it appears he's done all he can to save his marriage and it wouldn't surprise me if he's been told to distance himself from certain others if he wants her to stick around. Whatever the reasons, it's all academic. The fact remains that Rooney wants to leave United at what could well be the worst possible time. With United's old guard, Ferguson included, ready to hang up their boots probably by the end of next season at the latest and the replacements (of which Rooney and Ronaldo were amongst them) hardly firing on all cylinders (see Hargreaves, Anderson, Carrick etc), coupled with United's financial situation could prove to be the beginning of the end of an era. Unless of course Fergie has the time and energy to conjure up one last magic trick and leave a team worthy enough to call his legacy. It's not as if he hasn't done it before, (see Keane, Ince, Stam, Beckham, Ruud, Ronaldo etc) and I wouldn't put it past him to do it all one more time. Remember the last big clear out that left United with nothing but kids? And as we all know "you can't win anything with kids!"...can we Mr. Hansen? I'm of the opinion that no-one is bigger than any club. And if Rooney wants to leave, let the fat scouse bastard go. Even if it means to City. We've seen it all before, but this time...time may well be against us. |

I've loved him for 6 years, he wants to leave - fair enough.
As long as he leaves with dignity, and remains a professional - fair enough. However, certain fans need to sort their mentalities about. Last week when I was at Old Trafford almost made me fall out of love with football, I spent the entire journey away from the ground to the car on a massive rant about how United fans are a bunch of spoilt disgraces that know nothing and I still feel that way. I wasn't sat in my usual season ticket seat, I was sat in another area of the ground. Sat next to 4 lads that called every player shit. They begged for Wayne Rooney to come on, like every fan in the ground and that really shows how clueless they are. Now he wants to go, the word c*nt is being brandished about. He's only a c*nt if he doesn't act professional, if he doesn't try his best and he leaves for Liverpool or City. Simple as that. City fans that've took the piss for months also need to sort their fucking heads out: Bunch of spastics. If he goes under the right circumstances - thanks for the memories Wayne, but NO ONE is bigger than the club. Not Stam, not Keane, not Beckham not Ronaldo, not you. |

The site of Rooney in a Citeh shirt turns my blood cold.
Tevez was different, although hard enough to stomach. After all, he wasn't wanted. God help Rooney if he ever decides to fight the blue cause. |

He'll show his true colours, fans that are prematurely calling him every name under the sun need to get their heads out of their arses.
Ronaldo wanted to leave, he gaves us another year and only had hissy fits on the pitch because he still cared, and after he left he still keeps in touch with Fergie and holds United in high regard. Then he left for a foreign club. Beckham, the relationship had broken down, he was asked to sit on the bench quite a lot, when he was called up - he played his socks off. (Scored 2 goals against Real Madrid in the 4-3 win at Old Trafford.) and he left for a foreign club. Rooney needs to follow suit. If he leaves for City, he's shown everyone EXACTLY why he wants to go - money. If he goes abroad, it shows he's gone abroad probably for personal reasons - to get out of the media spotlight and to enjoy his football again. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wayne Rooney in a Man City shirt.
They guy is a scouser, he's got no loyalty to anyone in Manchester, Hell he didn't have any loyalty to his own home club. One tiff with Moyes and he was off to the money. I can see history repeating itself easily.

One would be unacceptable (City). The other would be understandable (Madrid).
During the speculation of yesterday one City fan at work announced he didn't want Rooney at City because he was shit. Today he had that picture pinned up. Tomorrow he'll have a thick lip! |
