That's the first ever football tournament to start with a shoot out.

BBC Sport - Football - Caldwell joins Wigan from Celtic
I actually quite like Gary Caldwell as a player, so that's not such a bad piece of business. I certainly rate him a lot higher than that waster Andy Webster anyway. However, owing to the fact that Jason Scotland couldn't hit a barn door with a frying pan and Hugo Rodallega's either bloody amazing or bloody useless, we need proven top flight goalscorers, not bleedin' Scott McDonald. It's not only Martinez but every manager the latics have had in the top flight seems to have failed to realise (for reasons known only to themselves). So, yeah, unless we get someone in who's already proven that they can actually score at this level, I won't be totally satisfied with this transfer window. |

Pienaar, I will claim him as flesh and blood
On a more serious note, great performance by Everton, in particular Pienaar and Fellaini, both on top form today. It was great to see the reception Donovan got when he was subbed, makes me love this game. Wigan win, Everton win and Villa win? If so it could be a great weekend all round. |
