Early days really, the first goal was a cock up and i think everything just went on from there which happens. Fair play to colchester as well, some brilliant movement and a set piece goal as well. I'm hoping it's just an underestimation on Norwich's part.

I loved the fact that we showed some real fighting spirit to get back into it and almost beat the 3rd best team in the world after it was nicely stacked against us. It's the kinda thing that just wasn't there when that Steve McClueless was in charge.

It's the MB derby tomorrow kicking off the Premier League season...

BBC SPORT | Football | Premier League | Aston Villa v Wigan

This'll either be a triumphant springboard for the latics or a total disaster.

Best of luck to your lot Jackhammer. May the best man win

edit: Some of the arguments on the 606 page over the Lescott transfer saga are hilarious.

I think Villa should win the 'battle', however strange things happen on the opening day of the season. I think you'll need a heroic performance from Titus Bramble though, wouldn't that be nice.

Where do you think the title will go this year? I think Chelsea have the advantage this year and will challenge with Man Utd. Can't see Liverpool challenging this year, I think they look vulnerable, but I wouldn't write off Arsenal as the potential in their squad is amazing. Probably won't be contenders in the long run though. The big question is where will Man City finish though, I think they'll challenge but finish 5th behind the usual four, with Spurs and Aston Villa behind those.

Titus Bramble is basically a completely transformed player since he's been at Wigan. He's gone from being the laughing stock of the Premier League to quite a formidable defender. 9 times out of 10 when it's him and Emerson Boyce in defence you'll get at least a decent defensive display from us. They're the central defensive partnership that's been instrumental in helping us establish ourselves as a Premier League team and the fact they've both signed new contracts recently is one of few reasons I have to optimistic for the season ahead.

The title's gonna be another tight one between the same old bunch - Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea. Any one of them has as big a chance as the other I reckon. Can't really see Man City or Arsenal mounting a coherent challenge this time round.

Who do you support by the way, Dollarsancents?

edit: One nilllllllll, one nilllllllll

Grimsby Town! Not the best start to the season, conceded 10 goals and scored none in all competitions so far. I was hoping for a decent season under Mike Newell but that's kind of gone out of the window already. We've been down in the basement leagues for so long, but looks like another miserable season ahead!

Good result for Wigan today, seems Villa didn't turn up! I really rate Titus Bramble as well, I've said it many times but it usually gets me a lot of stick in a pub environment. Great start for Wigan, I think you'll have no problem staying up this year, there's a lot of rubbish in the Premiership this season.

Mid-table, maybe higher with some good form and maybe a few cheeky signings.

Just watched Arsenal demolish Everton, great game. Arsenal looked hungry and everyone performed well, will be interesting to see if they can gather some momentum. I don't think anyone rivals them for aesthetics and pure talent, but it remains to be seen whether Arsene can transform that raw talent and youth into a genuine title bid. I hope so.

'We piss on your fish, we piss on your fish'

Greatest and most eloquent football chant around the leagues.

Almost as good as the classic Millwall one eh.

'No-one likes us, we don't care'

And, yeah, I'm pretty ecstatic over the latics' result. Best performance I've seen from them in such a long time (via good old BBC Radio 5, can't be doing with that Talksport shite ) - can't wait for Match Of the Day tonight. It's still early days of course but, as you say, some fairly bad teams have come up and Portsmouth are definitely going to struggle, so with any luck we'll survive this time round too.

I didn't really pay a lot of attention to many of the other games, but that Arsenal result was quite something. If they can keep that kinda form up they'll be much more of a force this year.
