Good post. I fully agree with this but I don't have that much of an issue with Russia hosting. They do at least have some footballing pedigree, I could name five Russian players and five Russian clubs off the top of my head. Their national team regularly competes in the Euros and WCs.

Three years is enough time but only if they nip it in the bud fairly quickly, so I can't see it being anywhere other than Russia. The only time I can think of a World Cup being moved at three years notice is '86 when Colombia voluntarily pulled out due to financial troubles and it was awarded to Mexico in '83.

Even if there was no bribery involved with Qatar (lol), it should be taken off them for bending many of FIFA's own rules:
  • 6 of the grounds are in one city (Doha), FIFA have always said no more than two stadiums for one host city
  • Qatar have asked to be allowed to provide only 9 stadiums rather than the usual 12
  • FIFA claim to have the World Cup in either countries with a football legacy or potential to build a legacy, Qatar doesn't tick either box
  • Moving it to winter when it was supposed to be a summer tournament

The English system deals with a WC every Saturday afternoon during the season, I honestly believe England could plan a WC tournament in under 8 hours that's how easy it'd be.
It wouldn't be as simple as that but it'd be pretty simple. Some of our grounds would need to see redevelopment to bring them up to FIFA standards which would take a little while. Villa Park for example had planning permission to expand the North Stand and raise the capacity to over 50k, which would have happened had England got 2018. If you've ever sat in that stand you'll know how claustrophobic it is, the leg room is poor for me and I'm only about 5 ft 9. You can forget about going to the toilet at half time and returning to your seat in time for the second half too.

If we submitted a joint bid with Scotland and Wales we could include Ibrox, the Millennium Stadium and Hampden Park with the added bonus of having technically never hosted before

The Ireland/France handball thing has happened loads of times in the past, or something very similar to it, the England goal in the 66 final and the Lampard goal against Germany are both very similar incidents. All three of these incidents could have been sorted at the time with the use of technology. The Henry handball and the Lampard goal just needed the referee to look at the huge screen in the stadium, problem solved, but they're not allowed to, how backwards is that. Goal line technology and a referee that is allowed to communicate would solve most issues.
Remember this in 2010 ffs

Agree with every word, football is still in the dark ages in this respect. Compare it to rugby for example.

Can someone please show me how having a WC in Africa helped the locals, apparently that's why FIFA choose places like Africa and Qatar, to help the local economy for years to come and to improve grass roots football in those countries. If you can find one bit of help the WC money has brought to S African grass roots football please let me know.
Absolutely no idea on this one.

Sort of related to that, a donation of $750,000 for victims of the Haiti earthquake disappeared. Meant to have deposited it into Jack Warner's back account, possibly 'in error'.

The odds of that ?

I'm amazed that some people are shocked by the bribery allegations, they must live under a fecking rock or on Venus or something, Ive know for at least two decades how bent FIFA are. I wouldn't allow a German, Italian or a Russian to run FIFA, they cant help themselves they are inherently bent.

ps. I watched a bit of the womens WC, doesn't matter how much they hype it and yes im sure there are sections of the dumbed down that will believe its every bit as good as mens football, but it isn't, its slow and dull. Apparently the USA womens team played a warm up game against a team of 17 year old males, lost and conceded eight goals. Yes women should play football, but lets be honest about it and not pretend its any good.
Yeah it's true, it was 8-2. Women's football won't ever be as good. I think they should change some of the rules & regulations because of the physical difference. You wouldn't make ten year olds play 45 mins each half on full size pitches for example.

Should probably try to make a different variation of football ala futsal or Masters football. Make the goals/pitches smaller, balls lighter etc.
