Default Metal Detecting

It's that time of year again! Anyone else into treasure hunting?

I rock this piece of crap bad boy. I've only been into the hobby a few years so I started off with something moderately priced on a whim, and now spend a good chunk of warm days wandering the beaches.

Came across what appears to be an old lock pick last summer. It's something very old, rusted, and metal, vaguely shaped like an L. What's been your coolest find?

I don't metal detect* ffs but once found a penny/half penny from the 1800's in my back garden.

Lost it.

Found nothing else.

What's your best find?

I don't do metal detecting but love it when I hear about people finding cool old stuff so feel free to share...

When I was doing some outdoor landscaping a year or so ago I found an incredibly old horseshoe. I thought that was pretty cool. I love just thinking about what used to once be on the land that now houses my home!

Probably that old lockpick. It's really not worth getting into the hobby hoping to find gold, because chances are pretty slim. You gotta be more interested in the excitement of finding REALLY old ****. For instance I once found a Mountain Dew can that had to be from the late 60s or something. Sure, it aint worth a thing, but pretty cool to find a piece of history.

Hope you held onto it and hung it on the wall, that is pretty cool! Like I said above, that's what it's all about. Finding cool stuff, not finding a fortune. Although I wouldn't scoff at finding a few hundred bucks or more worth of jewelry on a lazy Sunday haha. Fingers still crossed.

Saw a guy at Sunset Beach find a diamond ring once where I was Surf Fishing. Had to be at least a 5,000 dollar ring. I no haves a metal detector, but i've found cash at several places.

Why is metal detecting illegal in Slovakia?
