Maradona didn't lift it absolutely on his own. In the final, Argentina put two players on to Germany's star player (the player was Lothar Matthaus) to mark him out of the game, despite this, the 'inferior' Argentinian outfield players were still good enough to beat Germany without Maradona scoring in the game. Not as poor a side as people make out.
