van Gaal has had a pair of tactical masterstrokes with the van Persie and Krul subs, I'm worried he will find a way to win this.

Any team with Messi in it always has a chance though. If you watch the goal he scored against Iran, they had all eleven men behind the ball and he still found a way to get it into the goal.

Two sides with decent but not particularly great defences but each with probably the best forward players in world football as a unit = nailed on 0-0 and extra time.

I'm counting on Messi to do it again and win the game late on with a piece of genius.

If Argentina are to go through they must do it in open play, if it goes to penalties I think the players will melt.

1-0 Argentina aet.

Messi > sheckshy voetbal.

Well my quarter finals acca was Brazil v Colombia both teams to score, and Germany, Argentina and Holland to qualify. Cha-ching.

For the semi's I have Germany in 90 minutes and Argentina to qualify.

There's now another photo going round of that old Brazilian man passing his trophy on to a Germany fan with a smile. This is what I love about the World Cup man, brings people together. You'd never see something like that in club football, this is just so much more welcoming and full of love for the game instead of love for one team.

Saw that. If that were club football an Arsenal fan would have sharpened the trophy and stuck it through a Man U fans chest. Getting hyped up for the game, I truly believe this will be a hard fought game full of technical skill and lots of great scoring chances.

Still hard to call at halftime. Think Argentina have been the better team.

I would agree they've been better. They have held possession better certainly. Netherlands usually starts out a little better. Hopefully they open it up in the second 45 and push the envelope. Would at least make for an exciting game.

Tense tbh.

No chance we are keeping hold of Vlaar btw, he's been excellent again. Whoever decided to let Vlaar and Delph enter the last year of their contracts ought to be ashamed of themselves.
