My favourite game of the tournament so far. Both teams went for it; open attacking football. End to end action. Plenty of chances.
America's best player's their goalkeeper, but despite that and the stick I constantly give them they put out a really good show there. Belgium just have the quality in one or two players that America don't. They can't bring on a Miralles or a Lukaku. But to their credit they try 100% and despite not having the most technically gifted players make up for it with their work ethic and determination. On a side note, thought the stick Fellaini was getting from that jobber Danny Murphy was uncalled for. He doesn't play a glamorous role, and he's not a glamorous player but his contributions often go unnoticed. |

Agreed Manky, determination & grit can only get you so far. Eventually you'll come up against a better side, just one game too far for the US.
It's been a belter, Next up: QF 1 - France vs Germany, Friday 5pm. QF 2 - Brazil vs Colombia, Friday 9pm. QF 3 - Argentina vs Belgium, Saturday 5pm QF 4 - Netherlands vs Costa Rica, Saturday 9pm. I've highlighted my picks to go through to the semis. |
