But Rooney does score goals. I know his record at major tournaments isn't good but it wasn't in 2009 either.
Rooney tends to either score a lot of goals and get few assists, or drop back into a supporting role and get more assists but obviously less goals as a result. At no point have the goals dried up though. I wouldn't drop either Rooney or Sturridge. But I would have the former in behind the latter and two wide players. |

Fantastic world cup so far. Really surprised and disappointed by Brasil, Argentina and Spain, but otherwise a brilliant tournament. England were pretty poor but I've taken to expecting that.
