Nothing to it. Mostly stacking player stats. Unfortunately you really do have to watch games (or least a decent podcast or two) to keep up with which players are performing and which ones aren't, despite hype or pedigree. In short, you gotta love the sport. For most peeps it's enough to love/follow their local teams. I can dig it.
