Why have I never posted in this thread?

Anyway, so I have 1/3 season tickets (part of a group) for the Royals. Just went to the first game we could go to today.

Have to say, I'm really impressed with our defense, a few years ago, I want to say that KC would have averaged like an error per game, it was ridiculous. Much better now.
Still can't get over that Jeff Shields stayed. For sure thought he was gone after last year.

Oh, I found a picture of the view from my seats.

Also, this is by far my favorite baseball gif since last year. lol

Not even dugout phones are safe from Ortiz's wrath lol.

Need info about the Texas Rangers if anyone who knows much about this team can give me any. Again if anyone saw my post in the NFL thread I'm specifically asking about the running of the club (financially) and the success they've had in recent years, I don't care about style of play or anything like that.

Mr. Ray Davis and Mr. Bob Simpson are the owners right? What is the consensus among fans regarding these?

YorkeDaddy 04-21-2014 12:35 PM

The Rangers have been contenders for several straight seasons. They made back-to-back World Series a few years ago, the first of which they lost pretty convincingly to the SF Giants, but the second of which they lost in a CLASSIC, all-time great World Series in 7 games to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 2011 World Series game 6 was one of the greatest games of baseball ever played. The Rangers were within 1 out (even 1 strike!!) of winning the World Series on multiple occasions but the Cardinals just wouldn't go down.

The highlights, since there's never a bad time to relive the incredible magic that took place in that game and I'm even the biggest Cardinals hater ever:

This recent year they made a pretty significant roster change by trading Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder, which was a good trade for both teams tbh. This year they're still a very solid team and have one of the best pitchers in the sport in Yu Darvish.

That's pretty much all the basic info I can give.

The running of the club I know much less about. I would probably know more if I lived in Texas and was specifically a Rangers fan but I'm not.

Didn't they pay a lot of money for Darvish?

All of that terminology and the video is like a different language to me tbh, but basically I'm assuming they are a well run club and are challenging at the top of the sport in that country?

^ In 2011 they were one single strike, twice, from winning it all.

As far as Darvish, that's just market value for a pitcher of that caliber.

They had to, otherwise the Yankees/Red Sox/some other rich team would've gotten Darvish. That's just the state of baseball right now, the rich teams get to shell out crazy money for the best players, and Texas obviously happens to be one of the wealthier teams.

It's so hard to repeat. The Red Sox are off to a slow start, but they did last year's champ season. No one is expecting them to do it again, but no one picked them last year either
