heard it discussed. i would be all in favour of it except for the fact that it would essentially destroy the scottish football league. what do they have outside of Celtic and Rangers? Aberdeen, St. Johnstone, and Hearts I guess. i just don't think it would be right. reality is as well I doubt they'd compete in the Prem. they would be just another team caught in the in between land of fighting for promotion just to get smacked around in the top flight and sent back down.
edit - i'm assuming in this situation that they bring Rangers along as well. could be wrong but I can't see them only doing one. big $$$ in broadcasting the old firm on Premier League TV.

one of the biggest things that sets football apart from all american sports for me is the global appeal it has. everywhere you go there is a league with it's own playstyle, culture, and fans. for most other sports the end goal is to play in the american league, in soccer there is no true top flight and it's all a matter of perspective. i bet celtic fans would much rather watch their team win the league 100 times in a row rather than leave the league and in many ways, their country, behind.
just my perspective. it will probably happen and the game will continue in that direction, but i would just hate to see the game devolve into the same sort of disgusting behaviour exhibited by american leagues and teams.

Yeah the big European leagues have their own pros and cons.
Spain - best players Germany - best match day England - most competition Not sure who the 'best fans' would be, probably some no marks in Eastern Europe. |
