In the 90's it was much more difficult as you were playing teams capable of winning it in the group stages (United 99). Look at the run United had to the final in 2011. Absolutely no chance that could have happened 15 years ago. People made a fuss over City's group this year but the fact is, groups like that were common 15 years ago. |

So you're fine with the big clubs being allowed to get even bigger without actually winning anything?
You keep on saying 'The quality is higher', when what you actually mean is the top dozen or so teams in Europe are at a higher quality because they're constantly being bankrolled for doing nothing while the rest be damned because they're in unfashionable leagues. Sorry but it was much more interesting to watch when the playing field was much more level.

Difficulty =/= Higher Quality
You guys aren't having the same discussion as me. I am saying the quality of football is better. And the established clubs took years to get there. They deservedly earned their place in the competition in the first place and have managed to maintain their spots.

If you say so.
I just see a bunch of teams who over the past decade have had places literally handed to them creating a cartel of a handful of teams that's virtually impossible to break into unless you have a spare half a billion quid in your back pocket. But hey, at least those same 12/14 clubs are loaded with star players & quality.

If any of you lot are gamblers, there's an offer on at Bet365. Guaranteed profit (yes seriously) as they are doing risk free in play bets for the Madrid/United match.
£105 profit Good game. Danny Welbeck was very good. As was De Gea. Last edited by Cuthbert; 02-13-2013 at 04:28 PM. |

I was pissed off at first with the structure of the CL knockout games but now I think it's alright. Milan vs Barca and Bayern vs Arsenal this week.
Expect to see Arsenal get battered, Bayern have only conceded 7 goals all season ffs. |
