From what I've read the idea was for Swagger to beat Del rio at Wrestlemania and win the world title, with his DUI the rumours are the match will still happen with Del Rio winning, but Ziggler cashing in his MITB.

It should have happened anyway. A guy disappears for 6 months, comes back and gets handed the title even though his last world title run got no reaction whatsoever.
Then you have the guy who's been working his ass off all year who the fans are desperate to see do well pretty much forgotten about, feuding with nobody at the most important time of the year. I really don't get WWE's logic sometimes

I very much doubt Swagger would have won though. I just think they needed the most interesting story they could think of going into Mania. Ziggler will either cash it in then, or go on to feud with Del Rio anyway.

I had high hopes for the Del Rio/Swags feud so I hope it does come to fruition, I think Swags will be kept in his role until Mania, especially as the WWE seems to revel in the publicity the storyline is currently stirring with the whole Glenn Beck episode.
After WM though I expect Zeb Coulter to dump Swags for possibly Cesaro. Am I the only one who can't stand Dolph Ziggler, I know it's his role to not be likeable but I just really despise him. I have no desire to see him to have the WHC for a month or two before dropping it either, let's face it, he'll be nothing more than a transitional champion if he becomes champion at all. |

I think Wrestlemania 14 will always be my favourite
Austin vs Michaels with Mike Tyson Undertaker vs Kane for the first time Cactus Jack & Terry Funk vs Road Dogg & Billy Gunn Rock vs Ken Shamrock for the IC Belt Goldust & Luna vs Mark Mero & Sable HHH vs Owen Hart for the Euro Belt Taka vs Aguila for the L Heavyweight belt And a 15 tag team battle royal with a surprise return by L.O.D. Solid card all the way through.

Interesting you say that, when Cesaro was going around saying no American would beat him for the title I would have thought that having a face Swagger come out & destroy him for it would have got him over really well.

That would have seemed the logical thing to do, although Swagger is bland at the best of times, perhaps they feared he would turn even duller if he was switched to a face role.
Besides, the whole Sgt Slaughter, Hulk Hogan - Real American patriotic character isn't really cutting edge in 2013. They could give that gimmick to any NXT rookie. |
