Hell what a day, Russia and Poland the two favourites from the group both out and Greece and the Czechs going through. Now that I've seen every team play at least twice, I'm certain the overall winner will either be Spain or Germany (the obvious choices) with Russia (**** they're out now) and Portugal (if they qualify which I'm sure they will) as the team capable of beating either Spain or Germany. Other choices are both France and Italy who could both grind their way to the final as neither gives much away.
England remain an unknown quantity, they just outscored the Swedes and played against a French team that still hadn't hit its stride, I think their final match against against the Ukraine will say a lot about their capabailities.

How on earth did the Greeks make it? They are awful but it just goes to show how unpredictable football is. If they don't meet it will be Germany Spain final.
It hurts to say it but the Germans always look so good and they just have no weaknesses. Yes England beat Sweden but it was a struggle so if we meet better teams we will get our arses kicked. Always such a drama with England

Well that's football for you, anyways Germany and the other team from Group B (most likely Portugal) must be licking their lips at the prospect of playing either Czech republic or Greece both of which are neither very good teams.

Regardless of what happens from this point on I think finding much to criticise England for is just looking for things to criticise. England were poor, shambolic actually, for about 15 minutes of the second half against Sweden. I felt it was an encouraging performance apart from that. We were passing it around quickly in the first half and although we didnt create many chances we looked as though we were in control and we went in with the lead. After going 2-1 down I felt we dug in and found in the performance that usually eludes us at that point.
I dont think we're gonna win it. I wont even commit to saying that we will definitely get out of the group but I think we showed some dominance and control and personally I could get used to that. |

England are pretty much always the same. They just hang on in there playing pretty poorly and not being able to keep the ball while usually being fairly lucky to not concede goals left right and centre but manage to put a few good attacking moves together so can always just manage to win against anyone.

The problem is that Scott Parker and Gerrard are woeful in their positions, which is basically the most important for controlling a game.

Gerrard has been far more effective than Parker. It looks at times like Gerrard is a touch greedy but, the fact is, there's no one making runs into decent positions.
The criticism of Johnson is a bit harsh - he's by far their most effective defender when England are attacking and Lescott and Terry haven't exactly covered themselves in glory. Still never mind Rooney, the saviour of England, is back tonight. Even though his goal scoring form has been terrible lately and he's a major liability with his disciplinary record.... |

Both Italy and Spain are through, I have to say that if Croatia had a bit more belief last night they could've beaten Spain, some of the chances they had!
