England were dire tonight, but luckily Sweden couldn't handle Theo.

It was actually a great match, England just outscored Sweden, if they qualify from the group which I think is very likely they need to improve drastically when they meet the likes of Spain, Italy or Croatia.

Both I'd say. We were totally outclassed --- like Man Utd or City taking on Huddersfield or whatever --- and we put up a terrible show, not only in that match but in our first one too, which is where the real damage was done.

However, I think anyone is going to have problems facing Spain. They look to be well on course for the triple, and are definitely the team to beat.

A friend of mine is Italian & he says the current Italian team are the worst he's ever seen, he said during their match against Croatia their midfield were totally clueless & resorting to the long ball game, something he said he's never seen them ever do in the 30 plus years he's been watching them. They're beatable even by Englands standards, and Croatia are nothing really special either.

It's kind of a moot point though because unless Croatia beat Spain (Unlikely) or England thrash Ukraine (Again Unlikely) England will be meeting Spain in the next round and I don't think there's any shame in giving the tournament favourites a good game & losing.

I think your Italian friend is losing the plot. They are the best Italian team I have seen in recent memory. Even the team that won the World Cup was worse, just incredibly fortunate.

I really enjoyed the England game, what a finish from Andy Carroll, maybe he is actually that good, and nobody's noticed it until now.
Also, Welbeck's goal was quality too, what a touch!
Walcotts goal though, the **** was the keeper thinking? I'd love to hear his excuse for that.

Also enjoyed Olof Mellbergs performance, the bearded dude still has it.

I think the truth is somewhere in between these two comments. This Italian side will beat Ireland in the final match but the quarters is about their limit. I know that Goofle is not very old, so he won't remember the classic Italian teams that played at the World Cups of 1982,1990 and 1994 World Cups and Euro 2000 (1990, 1994 and 2000 weren't great footballing sides but got the job done with great professionalism). Since then, Italian sides have been up and down and usually relied on their tried and tested defensive abilities to progress in tournaments and obviously did it to great ability to win the WC again in 2006. Also Italy always seem to play much better at world cups than they do in the euros. For Italian teams to be really great they always seem to need a great player to surge them forward and the only player that they've had like that over the last decade or so has been Del Piero, Balotelli has the ability to do this but his disicpline and temperment are the issues there.

Yep not bad for an old Villa dude.
