Heskey could have held the ball up well for Welbeck, but Goofle does make a valid point in that there isn't much creativity to supply the strikers.
Perhaps Walcott could play the second striker, if they went for Carroll, as he has played that role for England before and his pace will give France problems.

Walcott missing out from the starting XI is a joke. Chamberlain has done nothing to prove he should be in the lineup. Joke.

Less than an hour to the big kick-off and agree Oxlade is just potential and surprised to see he's in the line-up.

If he plays off the striker I will be a lot happier. He can be great there.

England v France: Great result for England, as France were the better side on a footballing level, its a great start for England and I believe they will beat Sweden in their next match, England are usually a confidence team.

Ukraine v Sweden: The return of Shevchenko and Ukraine used their home advantage to great effect, it will be interesting to see how they do against France in their next match.

Surely, you wouldn't want to partner Carroll and Welbeck, both of whom have virtually no international experience in a game as important as this one, not to mention there is no evidence to say their different styles will mesh.

Honestly, Hodgy Beats must be regretting not taking Peter Crouch now.
Precisely. Given his past record, it was a strange decision not to take him. I know it's old school mentality but it has to be two up front every time for me and, had Crouch gone, Hodgson would have had that option. There was no-one up front yesterday with enough experience.

Nothing wrong with ultra defensive tactics.

Wow the battle of Warsaw last night great match at 1-1. I expect Poland to beat the Czechs in their last match to go through with Russia. Spirited performance from the Greeks yesterday but going down to two early goals from the Czechs was always going to be hard to come back from.

Should be a great day again today:
Denmark v Portugal, defeat for Portugal means their out and then the big one Netherlands v Germany surely the biggest match and rivalry in European football, again a dutch defeat puts them out!

Capello-Huh?
Hesky-Maybe you aught to think about it for 5 mins or so
Capello-no.your going on
Hesky-Look,boss...why don’t you send Peter on.He’s well up for it and to be honest i’m feeling a bit intimdated...the fans don’t like me...and hey.Peter scores goals for England...He’s a prolific goalscorer for England!!!!
Capello-Prawlifeeek?
Hesky-Something that someone does regularly
Capello-He’s a freak
Hesky- acc.to the oxford English dictionary a freak is A thing or occurrence that is markedly unusual or irregular...like your strikers scoring goals.
Capello-I want you to hold the ball up
Hesky-so it gives time for Rooney to get back into postion?
Capello-Yes
Hesky-Why don’t you just put Pete on and let him just kick it into the net without all the messing around and ****?
Capello-Just do what i tell you
