Fortunately Del Bosque (Krusty) changed that later on. Torres had a bad day, though.

Spain look more than capable of out passing any other team, but I got the impression, particularly with Iniesta, that there were still in their club mentality and couldn't gel with each other in the final third. Delighted to see Torres suffering! .
More than slightly tense about tonight's game. I can't help but think it's going to be the same old, same old from England. We'll see.... |

England's group is so hard to call. England could finish top of the group or they could finish bottom. France are the best team and the others on a similiar level when you take all the different aspects into consideration. I also think Ukraine v Sweden will say a lot today as well, I'm intrigued to see how Ukraine as hosts will play.

My prediction is for France to beat England 3-0.
I'd like to see England do well, but with either Danny Welbeck or Andy Carroll playing upfront on their own, I don't see them scoring any goals. And the partnership of Lescott and Terry just screams calamity to me, two massively overrated meatheads who will get outdone by the French attacking flair. |

Can't believe Roy is thinking of playing one up front. Wellbeck hasn't got enough experience or the skill to hold the ball up and Carroll may lull England into humping aerial balls up to him all the time.

What other option do they have? Rooney's out and Defoe's grieving the death of his father.
Surely, you wouldn't want to partner Carroll and Welbeck, both of whom have virtually no international experience in a game as important as this one, not to mention there is no evidence to say their different styles will mesh. Honestly, Hodgy Beats must be regretting not taking Peter Crouch now. |

Wellbeck is a perfectly fine striker. Easily our best option aside from Rooney. The problem England have is not being able to create enough chances for the lad because of the lack of skill and variety in the players behind him. Probably only Ashley Young has any kind of variation and adaptability in his game, so it makes sense that he plays second striker.

You should all just be grateful that Emile Heskey didn't make the squad
