They were beaten by the winner and then future world champions, that still made them the second or third best team of euro 2004. Most of the team that played there are here for euro 2012 too.

.....and Russia smashed Holland in that same tournament.
Why do you think their team is worse now? To me it looks on the same level, especially since they are unbeaten for like over a year.

Greece played effective football today and nearly stole the show. But its teams like Russia that light up a tournament like the Euros, Eastern European teams have the ability to do that. Old Yugoslavia (Serbia and Croatia) Romania and Russia have done it over the years, ever since I first started watching football in the 1980s, what they always lacked was grit and resilience when it really mattered, but they provide skillful and tactical football.

Group B matches today from the group of death: Netherlands v Denmark and Germany v Portugal, really looking forward to the Germany v Portugal match, two of the potential favourites facing off.
