Mayweather was hardly trying. Even admitted he was mostly putting on a show.
Funny enough that's how I feel about UFC. But really they're two very different combat sports and I prefer boxing because it has more of a rhythm.

i don't think anybody needs an excuse. floyd is one of the best technicians of all-time and he was always going to win. conor had a great showing though.
boxing still sucks, i can't get behind a combat sport with so many rules and nuances. is it wrong i prefer watching dudes get beat on until their unconscious?

After all the hype leading up to the bell, and then McG actually winning 4 of the first 5 rounds I think he simply suffered a massive adreniline dump and ran out of gas. I guess having to dance around for 10 three minute rounds is more exhausting than punching, kicking, and gappling for 5 five minute rounds.
He made a good showing of it for the first half of the fight but being a rookie, he simply got out-schooled by the ultimate veteran of the sport. Floyd will retire with the best undefeated record ever at 50-0, surpassing Rocky Marciano's 49-0.

strongly disagree. he's had the same problem in many of his UFC fights. it's just easier to kill time in MMA than it is boxing. he was trying to use the clinch as a way to regain his energy last night but it just wasn't enough for him to really gain from.

What excuses?
Also as for this unbeaten run, other boxers have got to much higher than 50 and still remained undefeated. I agree with Lennox Lewis. This should be treated as an exhibition match. It'll always be 49-0 to me. |

Boxing is a really good way to stay fit. You don't neccessarily have to get into the ring, but if you practise the moves right all combos are essentially a sequence of one of four moves. I took some kickboxing lessons, it really helped because what I learnt formed the foundation of how I practise. I'd suggest doing boxing in combination with some kind of yoga or Tai-chi to warm down.
The best thing I can tell you about boxing is the difference between Southpaws and Orthodox. Orthodox stance is traditionally leading with your left foot forward and your right or strong cross at the back. South paws is for fighters who cross with their left hand stronger, or for an orthodox boxer who is training and doesn't want to use their full strength. You always fight side on to block and all hits are just at 45 degrees jab, cross, hook or uppercut, keep your elbows in and your feet shoulder width apart. A kickboxer spread their feet more, that's all but you can use that for the uppercut it's the same as the twist kick. Always set your hook back to a block. |
