Any fighters/martial artists on MB
So are there any fighters out there? Martial artists? Wrestlers? Boxers? MMA? Backyard bangers?
Wondering what ya'll might listen to while you train? Got an intro song? What's some of your favorite techniques? If your a martial artist, what do you practice? Keep a fight record? Hold any titles? I practice in combat hapkido, jiujutsu and shequan regularly. Used to study in taekwondo, kempo and taichichuan as well. I like to consider myself a jeet kuen do man, style without style as they say. I believe if you develop an understanding of many styles you own will come to you naturally. I wrestled in high school, but I find that GR wrestling is as much about physical superiority as skill. Which turned me away from it. The only guys that ever beat me did so with pure body mass. Your turn |
i think there's already a thread on this
i have a green belt in taekwondo, have taken classes in Muay Thai, capoeira, European kickboxing i suppose my style is a hotch-potch of all that, i've never competed professionally, but have gone through pretty severe training - blood and bruises and all that i've also studied martial arts philosophy, mostly Bruce Lee's books |
I've been studying European sword for a year now as well as occasionally practicing Baguazhang, but I don't have a teacher so it's probably inaccurate. I used to brawl a little as a kid, we held tournaments in our backyards. I took quite a few solid punches to the face :D

Baguazhang is badass. The old master who I studied taichi under favored it. I always enjoy sparring with any wudang practioner. I love the way the contest will become flowing and constant. What do you mean by European sword? Like traditional fencing?
Capoeria!? Now that is a bit rare. Have a master? Or just personal study(which I don't knock on one bit). How well does it mix with your taekwondo practice? Quote:
I don't have a pro record either but I've always kept my own records. It's good to know where you stand, per experience I mean. |
Neither fighting nor a martial art, but I do professional wrestling.
I've been training for around a year, however my size is holding me back from getting much in-ring action, need to put on more weight. So, I've had to stick to refereeing at the last few shows we've done, however I'm hopeful of a place on the card at one of the March shows. I wrestle with W3L (the world wide wrestling league) in Scotland. |

i don't mix both at all Capoeira is more like a dance to me - i use it to impress people (Handstands, cartwheels) taekwondo, i try to find the easiest takedown methods sparring - it's mostly elbows and knees - i hate the flashy stuff, unless it's for exhibition |

Does anyone have any expirience in Sambo? It seems really interesting and I don't know much about it. It seems to be based upon Judo.
I'm getting BJJ lessons soon. Me and some of my idiot friends have been doing some unofficial comps and stuff, but it'll be good to actually get some more detailed techniques and belt rankings and stuff. Bloody newbs, always digging up old threads. |
