Origami
Anyone on here remotely interested in it? I used to be into conventional step by step stuff, but have lately gotten into tessellations. In tessellations you pretty much make a LOT of guide folds, then it all falls into place. Here's a few examples:

I LOVE ORIGAMI!!!!!!!
I've never made tesselations. I was into animals. I once made a dragon that took over 60 folds. It had cute little wings and a nice tail and everything. I found its instructions online. My other origami masterpieces were a hermit crab (shell and all) and a regular crab with all its jointed legs. Origami is the artwork of peace. :) P.S. My hermit crab looked a little like this one (on the left): http://design.origami.free.fr/bestof...mitCrabs-L.jpg |
Woo hoo! Someone else likes it! :D I've never really gotten into animals, which is kind of funny since they're one of the most common things to fold. I mean, almost all of the bases come from animals (bird, frog, fish, snail, etc.)

I can make a mean paper crane, and used to do throwing stars, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.
I've probably folded well over a thousand cranes as a volunteer for various charity exploits over the years though. A friend and I powered through 300 one afternoon and suffered severe tendonitis for days after. ****ing cranes. |
Ahh yes, cranes. It took me forever to figure out how to get to a bird base from the preliminary base. Everything I've learned was from diagrams and whatnot. I imagine watching someone do it would have been very beneficial, but I've only had that luxury (watching YouTube videos) for the past couple of years.
