Arkansas at 1 Alabama

The Tide's tour through the SEC basement continues against the Razorbacks. Spread is 28, 'Bama covers

Washington State at 2 Oregon

The Cougs got murdered by Oregon State in the Paloose last weekend, it only gets worse traveling to Eugene. Oregon just crushed Wazzu here in Seattle a year ago at a game attended by yours truly



(that's me saying the Ducks are all about speed)

Oregon always wins against the lower echelon teams, that will continue against the Cougs, although as I've said I hate these cupcake spreads, I dunno if they'll cover the 38 1/2 points. If they don't it'll only be because they let their foot off the gas in the 4th quarter.

5 Florida State at 3 Clemson

This is the unquestioned game of the week, even considering a very compelling Pac-12 game. Both undefeated, that will change this weekend. One team will be #3 (at least in the AP poll, which won't matter at all once the first BCS rankings are released after the Saturday games, who knows what that's going to produce), the other will probably still be in the top 10 unless it's a blowout.

Interestingly, Florida State is favored by a field goal even though it's a Tigers home game. I dunno, I'm totally torn, I say pick 'em. I guess I'll take the Death Valley advantage and the Tigers.

Iowa at 4 Ohio State

I take the Buckeyes and surrender the 17 points with no fear whatsoever.

6 LSU at Ole Miss

This is a decent Rebels team but LSU is better. Bet the farm on the Tigers covering the 8 points

24 Auburn at 7 Texas A&M

Surprising Auburn will not be ranked next week, Aggies cover the 12 1/2

Central Florida at 8 Louisville

I dunno why the spread is only 12 1/2, this is an easy pick for Louisville. This is a Friday night kickoff.

9 UCLA at 13 Stanford

The Cardinal were caught by surprise against the Utes in SLC last weekend (thinking ahead to UCLA?). That will not happen this weekend. With all respect to the Bruins, whom I believe will be in but lose the Pac-12 championship game, Stanford will be back in the top 10 next weekend (although I think UCLA might beat the 5 1/2 points)

10 Miami (FL) at North Carolina

Are the 'Canes knocking on the door to a return to their glory days? I think they are but aren't there yet. They will win and cover the 9 points tomorrow night, but IMO either Clemson or FSU would take 'em down in the ACC.

Arkansas gets pummeled repeatedly at Alabama which covers the spread. Remember when Arkansas had elite players? Yeah me neither.

Oregon Covers against Wazzu, Poor Wazzu they probably wish Ryan Leaf would come back.

I'm not really sold on Clemson honestly after last weeks game. I think at home they do just enough damage to win a close game. FSU favored by a field goal? GTFO

Iowa gets clobbered by Ohio State. If the spread were 60 pts i'd still pick the buckeyes.

LSU to beat Ole Miss and cover. I like Ole Miss also and think they have some potantial, but LSU is in the drivers seat in this game.

Texas A&M covers against Auburn. Johnny do it all with a bustout game.

I like UCLA against Stanford. I think they use the film from the Stanford game and abuse that poor defense of Stanford.

Hurricane to cover against the Tar Heels. NC usually has a good defense but Miami looks like the real deal this year.

Final 52-0 Tide

Ducks were up 62-24 until late in the 4th quarter when the 1st team WSU offense scored a couple garbage touchdowns on the 3rd string Oregon defense. In the loss, WSU QB Connor Halliday set an NCAA Div. I record with 89 pass attempts. Final 62-38 Ducks in one of those not-nearly-as-close-on-the-field-as-it-was-on-the-scoreboard deals

Final FSU 51 Clemson 14

I expect the first BCS Poll will put the Seminoles at number 3 next week. Amazingly, Clemson could still be as high as 5th, but only because they they got some...well, a LOT of help in other top 10 games

Buckeyes win, but only by 10 and Iowa had a chance in the 4th quarter

I guess I owe everybody a farm, Rebs win 27-24

Wrong again, 45-41 Auburn

Guess I know why now, 38-35 UCF

Well at least I got this one half right, Stanford wins 24-10

Another half right pick (I'll take any victory I can get this weekend), 'Canes juuust barely squeak out a 27-23 win.


Who knows what that first BCS poll will look like after this crazy weekend? I do expect 1-2 to remain 'Bama/Oregon, FSU should be 3rd with their utter blowout of Clemson, Ohio State should stay 4th but could've moved up if they had manhandled the Hawkeys the way that the 'Noles put it to the Tigers. and I'm pretty sure that 12 Baylor (who ran up a 71-7 score on Iowa State) will be in the top 10, as will Stanford and 14 Mizzou, who took down 22 Florida 36-17 and is in the drivers seat in the SEC East. Other than that, I have no earthly idea what that BCS poll is gonna look like, can't wait to see it.
