So we've got Griffen, Robison, Joseph and Floyd, you'd think the Vikings had their front four all set up.
Bears DL Henry Melton will visit Vikings - TwinCities.com also http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...g-the-vikings/ Last edited by Forward To Death; 03-12-2014 at 08:10 PM. |

Another very impressive first round by the Vikings. I still don't fully understand Bridgewater dropping so much, so I'm very glad the Vikes got him, and the pass-rush is going to need a ton of help going forward so Barr looks like a good pick.

I'm actually feeling pretty good about this season. No real pressure for this season with so many young guys being in prominent positions, but there's still some potential to do something if the new coaching staff brings the team together and catches lightning in a bottle with all this new talent. The NFC North is a division that, after the Packers, could be up-in-the-air for positioning 2-4, so it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if we squeezed into the playoffs as a wildcard.
Things I'm most excited about: - The passing game: Cassel isn't great, but he can at least utilize our big weapons. Jennings is an adequate #1, and there's been a lot of talk about Patterson really exploding onto the scene this year (not sure I quite believe that yet as he still seems pretty raw, but it's something to look out for anyways). And then you have Bridgewater, who I'm really excited about. I think it's best for him to sit a year, but it's tempting to get a look at him earlier rather than later. Most importantly though, I'm excited to see what Norv Turner can do with all these pieces. - The front 7: This could very well be a disaster, but I'm just excited to see what this extremely young group can do. Greenway and Robinson are nice to have as a steady presence but Floyd, Barr and Griffen are just pure potential. I'm hoping at least one really breaks through this season. - Peterson: I can't not mention him. Last time we had a promising passing attack, he probably had his worse season, but there's still that career-long question of how good he could really be if the passing game can take some pressure off him. Not saying that will happen necessarily, but they now have the personnel and coaching to try to do that, so we'll see. |

I'm concerned about the linebacker situation as well. We haven't had a solid middle linebacker since EJ henderson, I'm not even sure how many years ago that was now.
Chad Greenway isn't the same player anymore either, though he could bounce back under a new scheme. This is a great site: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...esota-vikings/ "• Some might think our rating of Chad Greenway is harsh, but the drop-off in his play from 2012 to 2013 was sharp. They reportedly plan on moving him to weak side linebacker this year, with rookie Anthony Barr taking over on the strong side, but his play needs to improve dramatically in 2014." I'm interested to see our new halfback. I think a speed guy to opposite AP will be great. I wanna dream of norv turner reunion with another sproles type but I'm keeping my optimism at bay. What is our defense now that it isn't the tampa 2? |

Damn. A lot of promise for the Vikings this year is pretty much squashed with these Peterson developments. I am excited to see more of McKinnon though (I can't see Asiata instilling much confidence into the Vikings coaching staff when he's probably going to average 2 yards a carry), along with probably a heavier dose of Patterson in the running game.

It's only been one game + one drive at the time of this post, but you can just tell how much better the coaching is lol. There's so much creativity in the offense now, not to mention how good the D looked last week. We have seen such a horrendous string of brutal coaching over the recent years (since Tice anyways).

Yeah...
Matt Cassel after that first pick looked like his life was flipped upside down. When he's comfortable he looks like a competent quarterback, with good throwing motion and and a capable arm. However if he can get derailed that easily it doesn't bode well. Teddy is going to be in after the bye. Defensive front doesn't get pressure fast, and that signing for robinson hasn't paid off yet. I think Rhodes looks good, just a little maturation away from being solid. He's always in the right spots at least. Anthony Barr looks like a beast ![]() broke through doube coverage. Next year will be the year, but hopefully we can get to .500. Offseason, let go of greenway and brinkley. Draft corners, running back and safetyMLB sign another veteran MLB/safety A lot of people are coming for A.P's head. If he gets indicted it would be an easy way to get out of paying the rest of his contract-just saying. Still got respect for A.P, don't think his intent was malicious and believe his kid would turn out fine in a few weeks. It's the media coverage thats ultimately going to prove more crippling in the long run |

He had a little scarring around his ass and legs from almost every report that I've seen. I just don't see what the big deal is. I know most people are appalled by abuse, but that's not really what I think of when I think of abuse. I always thought of it as a constant thing, and this seems like discipline. If he was beating the kid all around his body or something, then maybe it was abuse.
I think the kid probably isn't very disciplined, and he was probably shocked to learn that there were consequences for being an *******. The Vikes look solid this year, and even though the Pats kicked our asses last week I'm still pretty optimistic. Our offense basically gave them 14, and to a somewhat lesser extent another 10 of their 30 points. With that said, our pass rush needs to be better than it was last week, and we need to be able to take away a guy like Edelman if we want to play with elite teams like the Patriots. |
