This'll be Rick's first head coach, so there's no reason for me to believe he won't hit a home run with this one if his record in the personnel decisions is any indication.
I didn't really like Frazier getting fired though, but someone had to go, and it was either going to be Frazier or Slick Rick. It just sucks because the players were really going to bat for him, and a few of them even said that they felt like they let him down this year. I maintain that he put this team in position to win games consistently, but we just didn't quite have the right personnel, and considering the time when he became head coach, I don't feel like he was given a fair shake at keeping the job long term. It's a shame, because someone else is going to step in and potentially reap the accolades that I think would be going to Frazier had he stayed. I really do think this team is about to break it big with another offseason, and another training camp with the right QB and a couple of upgrades on defense. I think that's pretty doable. |

yeah Frazier was a great players coach but his game management was very questionable. Also, in regards to Spielman's track record, don't forget his blunder with drafting ponder, or his history in miami.
This offseason I hope we sign a free agent QB like Cutler(we have the cap space easily, we should be capable of landing one) draft a QB with the first pick, and use all remaining picks on defense, with the exception of maybe a new RB. Get a new defensive coordinator and drop the tampa 2 defense |

Rick did a much better job in Miami than he's given credit for. Can't understand really why some people keep bringing that up, but they lost their best player (Ricky Williams) in '04, and that definitely had a lot to do with them sucking, and Rick losing his job.
Some people act as if he left the organization in shambles, when in reality he inherited a ship that had been on the verge of sinking, and made some quick fixes to keep the thing afloat. I think we're definitely going to draft a QB, probably Manziel or Bortles, with the first pick now with the reports about Freeman. If he's getting smeared like this, he isn't coming back to Minnesota, even though the report I read really doesn't depict him doing anything half-assed other than showing up late to team meetings. It just says that he wasn't in sync with his teammates when he came here, which is kind of obvious I would think. I was hoping we could save the first round pick for a nose tackle that could put this defense over the top, and maybe we still can, but it's looking and less and less that way. Would definitely stay away from Jay Cutler though. Would rather see if we could drag Favre out of retirement than sign that guy. |

Looks like the Harvin trade is turning into a disaster for the Seahawks. Not like they need him in order to be successful, but it looks like he's going to have a tough time staying healthy at all. When he was here, he was nearly always questionable for injuries, but he still played.

Thinking the Vikes need to go ahead and get Roman and Tomsula from the 49ers. All I know is that the 49ers always outplay the Packers offensively, and their defensive line always gets right in Rodgers' face.
It'd almost guarantee we'd be doing one of those hybrid 3-4/4-3 defenses, which I think we definitely have the players for aside from nose guard. Robison and Griffen could be the OLBs, I'd be willing to bet any two of Greenway, Mauti, Cole or Hodges could fill the ILB positions, and Guion and Floyd could definitely play 5-technique. All we'd really need is the big nose tackle. If we were going with a scheme like that, I could see our secondary thriving as well. Smith and Sanford are both big hitters that the 49ers have always favored, and with the amount of press man coverage we'd play, it should benefit Rhodes, Cook and Robinson a lot, since they all seem to play better in man-to-man coverage. With the right QB, I could easily see us being the Chiefs of 2014, but better offensively, and not quite as good defensively. |
