I'm betting that a lot of these people said that a QB under six feet tall couldn't possibly succeed in the NFL |

Honestly, I'm starting to like Johnny Football as a NFL prospect more and more. I heard he has gigantic hands, so he won't fumble, and that would also explain why he's so damn good at those pump fakes. If he can improve at those touch passes like Brees, he could definitely be one of the best. I think he's only like 5'10. Smart QB, always seems to know how to avoid the sack. |

That was as dominant an offensive performance as I've seen the Vikings have in years, despite being down their top 2 RBs and top 2 TEs. While Asiata's yards per carry was dismal, he was still fairly effective at moving the chains. It was nice to be dominant in time of possession for once.
That game was all Cassel though. Credit to the receiving core too (particularly Jennings), but Cassel was bombing it down the field with regularity and connecting more often than not. I still want to completely blow it up, so I want to get a new franchise QB, but if I thought the Vikings could challenge for a playoff spot next year, I'd be fine with Cassel as the QB. Despite giving up 30 points, I thought the D played pretty well too, despite some obvious slip-ups. Nice to see Smith back. |

Yeah, let's blow it up. Our offensive line is great, our receiving corps is great, we have the best RB in the NFL, but yeah let's blow up the entire operation.
Anyways, we're a franchise QB and a nose tackle away from being title contender, no question. Whenever I see this team, it's always "Why can't [QB] complete passes" or "Why does our interior defensive line suck so bad". Hopefully it's rectified, Cassel is solid, but historically inconsistent. I think you have to look somewhere else for next year at QB and keep Matt as the backup, or maybe even start him while someone develops. Still think Freeman is a part of the plan, though. As for the D-line, Robison and Allen are still elite edge rushers, the problem is that we have Guion and an aging Kevin Williams in the middle. While Williams can still hold his own, Guion is terrible. He doesn't command double teams like a nose tackle should, and it seems like his gap is constantly giving up significant running plays whenever we face a team that can run it up the gut. Hoping they use a first rounder on a NT like Nix or Hageman. |

Our offensive line is great? We have a young stud LT and a great C. Every other position (not to mention our depth) leaves a lot to be desired. AP was seeing absolutely no holes the entire first half of the season.
Receiving corps has potential, but I think it's far from "great". I've had this discussion with you before though. Patterson is unbelievably dangerous but has a lot to learn about the position. Jennings is looking like a legit #1, but not an elite one by any means. Simpson has filled in fine as a #2, but isn't anything special, really. Solid, not great. Yeah, AP is amazing, but we all know how hard it is to have a RB as the focal point of your offense. I'm hoping they can get something better to surround him in his career, but I really think the first Favre year is the closest we're going to get. Defense is beyond terrible. There are some really nice individual players like Allen (who, let's be honest, is probably not coming back next year), Greenway and Smith, and some other good players like Robison and Williams (who's nearing the end), but everywhere else is lacking. Hopefully Rhodes can develop nicely; he's shown some flashes of greatness in his rookie year. As for DT, they just drafted Floyd, so I don't think it's necessarily the most glaring issue. Outside of Greenway, the linebacking corps is inexcusably awful, and the secondary as a unit might even be worse. I don't get how you think this team can compete in the immediate future, or think we're a couple pieces away from contending for a Championship. |
