ponder could definitely play this is just a great timely excuse to sit him and see if cassel can't provide a spark.
If matt cassel is better he will stay if he does worse coaches can say ponder is returning from injury. I hope to god cassel can do something, i didn't realize he was a pro bowler one season with the cheifs so theres that. We won't have cook, sanford or rhet ellison either so lets see if sherels can have two good games in a row |

We don't have the right QB to give our receivers the chances they need. See how Ben can hit his guys right on the money. If he needs to throw it slow and with a lot of hangtime, he gets it done. If he needs to throw a bullet into tight space, he does it.
Ponder and from what I've seen Cassel cannot do that. It's time to get a real QB, we have the receivers with this team. |

I liked what i saw from cassel today. He started poorly but I thought he had the offense running better than ponder. He gets the ball out quicker, has better pocket presence and had some throws we all know ponder wouldn't attempt.
He's not great, but i think he's more competent. |

Ponder's still our QB? Not a chance. There's no way you don't go with Cassel. |

It's nice to have a QB that is actually capable of connecting with a receiver downfield. I don't think Cassel was great, especially early on (he didn't turn it over but was very lucky he didn't throw two picks to Ike Taylor early in the game), but he gave us more big play ability than Ponder ever could. Seriously, could you ever see both Simpson and Jennings having good games in the same game if Ponder was the QB?
Still a concern with how they allowed the Steelers to come back, but I guess at least they closed it out this time. I was actually shocked when Pittsburgh didn't tie it up. Peterson was great after he got that big run. It was looking like every single other game for him this season until he got some confidence back with that run. I am VERY impressed by Jennings. I had my doubts when he came over here because I didn't think he could be utilized in this offense (and to some degree he hasn't been utilized fully), but he looks great out there. Defense is still very suspect. It's a forgone conclusion that we're going to get lit up in the passing game every week. Even when we put some nice pieces in place in the secondary with Smith and Rhodes, this team is just incapable of stopping the pass. |
