he had a 14 yard reception and ran 2 yards a carry(one of them 9 yards) against arguably the best run-stop defense in the league.
I thought he did ok minus the turnovers. Fumbling is something every running back has to go through it seems like, weeks of focusing on ball handling should hopefully solve it. |

San Fran's run D is awesome, but unless you're ripping off 90 yard TDs every other carry, 3 fumbles in 8 carries is inexcusable (even if it is against the Niners, and one of those fumbles was bogus).
It's weird though because Gerhart was never known for fumbling problems. His whole draw is consistency and reliability. We got a heightened example of young RBs having to correct their fumbling issues with AP; don't really want to see that drastic of an example again. |

Pumped for today. AP should have a big game against a shaky Lions run-D. Hopefully Ponder keeps it up as well; he's been really impressive so far.
Defense should be interesting; Minny still sucks against the pass and it will be interesting to see how the Megatron match-up plays out. Even if they manage to contain him, the Vikes still have a history of getting torn apart by TEs, so Pettigrew could have a big game. Burleson could as well, playing against his old team. I was just checking out some advanced NFL statistics, and Harvin's numbers are really impressive. He's been thrown to 32 times and has caught 27 of them (84.4%). That's by far the best percentage of passes caught by any player that has been thrown to more than 15 times, and only Michael Crabtree, Calvin Johnson and Mike Wallace come relatively close out of receivers that have been targeted a significant amount of times (Crabtree - 19/24 (79.2%), Johnson - 24/31 (77.4%), Wallace - 17/22 (77.3%)). He's the main reason why Ponder, and the Vikings in general, have been so successful. |

Yeah our secondary is likely going to be torn apart. We have to make sure to eliminate the run completely(shouldn't be too difficult). Jared Allen and Brian Robinson have recorded 6 sacks against this lions offense and i really think thats what today is gonna come down to.
So excited for jerome simpson coming back. Finally have an adequate deep threat to stretch the defense. Make it even easier to hit rudolph on intermediate routes. Im nervous because mistrell raymond is injured and jamarca sanford who couldn't get a job on any other team is starting for us again. It all hinges on our pass rush. |

Awesome game. I thought it could have been an even bigger win if the offensive play-calling wasn't so brutal at the end of the first half. Ponder wasn't anything great but he didn't have to be. The D was awesome though. Winfield was great and Greenway is beasting even more than usual this year. This is looking like a very efficient team. I'm impressed.

ponder still makes me nervous. People credit his decision making but i feel like he has done virutally none of it, musgrave has him on an extremely short leash. I remember a couple plays where instead of looking at the 2nd or 3rd option he immediately threw the screen to harvin and both times the ball hit the chests of Detroit defensive ends. He was rolling to his right far too often even though it never worked yesterday.
I don't think our level of play is sustainable. Were too thin everywhere (receivers, secondary, o and d line) to handle the almost certain injuries were going to face. |
