The Official World Basketball Championship Thread
As you know (and if you don't, shame on you ), last Friday the 2010 World Basketball Championship began.
As far as I know, a priori the main favorites to win the trophy are USA, Serbia, Spain (current European and World champion), Russia, Argentina and Greece. The first round (four groups) ended yesterday: 2010 FIBA World Championship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Now the knockout stage begins: 2010 FIBA World Championship knockout stage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As it happened at the football (soccer) World Cup, Spain started the tournament with a slip (or, in this case, two slips). But in group D there was a "Kiwi miracle": New Zealand won France in the last match. So we finally qualified in second place of the group. Thank you, dear antipodes!!

i have been watching most of the US team games. i think they are going to win the tournament. however, we have the tendency to take too many jump shots(damn you chauncey). time will tell, its fun to see this young team learn how to play together. it's knockout games from here on out.
