Uruguay keeper on Saurez is the only one I can think of but he made contact and it was a sending off..

Definate sending off and onside as well. It was a sad sight seeing Bafana Bafana supporters leaving in droves before the final whistle.

I just had the "Shut the door on your way out" philosophy. I never expected them to go through, I hate it when people leave 10 minutes early. I get really irate about it. When I go and watch football I leave 2 minutes before the end of time regardless of the result due to traffic, but I see people leaving 10 minutes before end of time when we're winning by a healthy margin and they miss goals. Pisses me off even more who leave just because your team is getting beaten. Show some support South Africa! You might never get there again, enjoy every minute.

Suarez did make a lot of Khune's challenge, but for a start there was blatant contact, secondly it was miles away from the ball and thirdly the keeper went in feet first - basically the dictionary definition of a professional foul and therefore a stonewall penalty and red card.

Well of course he did, he's a tart. But it was a clear penalty like you say, even though when people like Gazza (Germany 1990) were playing, crunching tackle from behind, he got right up. Footballers need to man up. I remember playing footy as a kid, we were all rough as nails. Why are footballers getting softer?!

So you watched that remembering Italia '90 thing last night too eh

I have absolutely no idea, but you're right, a lot of the lads are getting soft. I guess it was bound to get like this eventually ever since FIFA made the professional foul a red card offence. Football's become a much less physical game than it once was, I know that much - players like Ron Harris, Nobby Stiles and Norman Hunter would probably get sent off every week under today's regulations.

As for today's fixtures, I don't really expect much from any of them as a neutral. France-Mexico could be interesting though.

Good watch, just showed how close we were.

The thing is, it's only gonna get worse. Players who are 16 coming through now, when they grew up playing football (2006-2007 12/13 years of age) they grew up watching players who simulate. They're gonna be like who they grew up watching, 'ard footballers like Keano and Palacios are a dying breed.

Greece v Nigeria later today, the first match in which the loser definately goes back home. I think it could well be another draw as Greece`s philosphy is designed to score a goal and then defend and Nigeria are all physical and with not too much skill, a far cry from the days of Okocha and Kanu. I don`t think it will be a very exciting match but certainly tense given whats at stake.
