I don't think Italy's problem was the age of the squad, it was the age of the first 11 and pivital areas of it. If you've got Gattuso and Pirlo in the most important area of the field and they don't have the legs.. As well as the centreback not being able to keep up, you're gonna struggle.

England have a nice balance to their squad.

Pirlo was the biggest loss due to injury especially with his passing ability.

Group H should be exciting today with Spain, Switzerland and Chile battling for two places. Could Spain fail to qualify like Italy

Spain-Chile's been on my 'to watch' list ever since Group H kicked off. Should be an absolute classic of a game. I could be wrong, but I can see Brazil-Portugal being a bit of a damp squib - both teams are through, so there's not so much to play for between them.

What makes the Spain v Chile game a great one, is that not only do Spain have to look for the win but Switzerland are sure to beat Honduras which makes the Spain-Chile game extremely tense. We could even have the scenario of a team going out here on 6 points!!!

The group G matches to be honest are going to be pretty boring but no doubt Brazil and Portugal will be going through the best idea to avoid Spain should they qualify.

It's so tight in Group H though, Spain have virtually equal chances of finishing first, second or even third in their group. Hopefully I'll be wrong, but I can see a very dull, cagey game being played by Brazil and Portugal. Chile-Spain on the other hand, as you say, is the one to get excited about.

Same with USA-Ghana tomorrow. After all, Ghana knocked them out of Germany '06 with one of the softest penalties I've ever seen, so here's hoping it'll be a nice fiery one.

The knock-out phase matches tomorrow are extremely difficult to call and Ghana v USA could go either way but I strongly fancy the USA to win.

Uruguay v Sth Korea even more difficult to predict, Uruguay have the attacking flair and are rugged at the back and are a very good team and of my favs in this WC, but Sth Korea like Japan have a never say die belief, they are so organized, disciplined and can score goals, this match should be the better of the two and should go the whole way.

I went to the England game on Wednesday and am just about to walk over to the Brazil Portugal game.

The atmosphere down here is amazing, one of the best experiences of my life. Looking forward to the eng/ger match up and seeing Netherlands play next week. hell yes to living in south africa

Come on Portugal, entertain me. If Brazil arent put under any pressure then they can happily play out a draw here but what use is that to Portugal? They have nothing to lose but top of the group to gain. I hope they push for it.
