Gerrard and Rooney linking up COULD undo a shakey German defence, if we see it. I would still rather see a 4-5-1 to allow Gerrard to sit behind and give him more freedom to look to do exactly this. However if we do go 4-4-2 which we probably will then yes, Defoe has to be up there with Rooney. He was chasing everything against Slovenia, even lost causes. He almost justified us playing the long ball. Almost.

Better than having a wheelie bin of a striker like Heskey up there. Someone who can chase AS WELL as finish. If it's not broke... don't fix it. 4-4-2 with the same players again for me.

That was a great performance from Japan! Entertaining but solid also. I think Paraguay have still been the better side so far but i wouldn't know which way to put my money on that game in the next round.
