We've not won a trophy in 44 years, it's expected that we're gonna fail. We just expected to go out in the quaters.. Despite a bit of blind patriotic optimism that we'd win it.
Italy however are the holders and they look pathetic. I'm mainly pissed off cos Zambrotta and Buffon are on my FF. They've cost me points. Useless twats. |

Congrats to NZ! Excellent result for them, for an unfancied nation it shows what can be achieved with good team spirit and players giving their all for their country. They're the polar opposites of a prima-donna team like France who apparently refused to train today because of Anelka getting sent home - the French must be absolutely fuming about the way their team has performed and their team's attitude at this World Cup.

Just admit your team were crap (assuming you were born in Italy and you're not some 3rd generation, twice removed Eyetie wannabe with a liking for pizza), after all we can. Repeat after me...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! |

So I haven't been on here for a while but, YAY NEW ZEALAND! I stayed up late/early to watch the match and I thought it was fantastic, considering the odds. I wish I was back there celebrating with all of my kiwis.
As for Australia, they put in solid effort against Ghana but I'm disappointed. Our coach needs to be sacked asap, he obviously doesn't have any sort of coherent game plan. But good on them for putting in the effort. What does everyone else think about Kewell's red card? Handball or not? I thought handballs were defined as intentional handling of the ball with hands or arms... I'm probably wrong because I'm no expert in soccer rules. But even if it was a handball does it warrant a red card? |

Kewell had an age to get out of the way of that one and didn't. I dont think he has a case really. He really was vocal about it afterwards when it came to protesting to the ref about it but i don't see why.
Speaking of red cards, BBC Sport - Football - World Cup 2010: Dunga dumbfounded by Kaka dismissal Hes critical, is he? Im not bloody surprised! If the ref had seen this one properly, he would have sent Keita off for being a deceitful, cheating, little prick. Oh and Lateralus. Red cards for handballs aside, i thought Australia were great against Ghana. Maybe they are in NZ's shadow at the moment and i cant see a win against Serbia but heres hoping they do and go through. If i had to pick a second team behind England in this world cup, it would be the Aussies. |
