Their arrogance = they'll find excuses. Just to save face. "Never a penalty and it was offside", even though the manager is quite clearly a clown and the players look disinterested and passionless.

Excellent goal.
Why would I want to "do something about it"? I was rooting for Mexico. I was just saying.

It's the centre of the mass of the body (apart from the arms) that counts. In this case, the centre of the attacker was ahead of the defender, thus it was offside.

Can't remember that, but then again I haven't seen the replay since the live broadcast. If it was that close, I still don't think there's room for the French to complain - that linesman's job was to make a split-second decision under the pressure of the knowledge that gazillions of cameras and journalists were watching, and not only tens of thousands of people shouting and screaming around but also going half-deaf from the vuvuzelas. He made a call that, under those conditions, was at worst only fractionally wrong. Plus the French were absolutely terrible, and even if that goal was disallowed I really couldn't see them getting anything out of that game. They were beaten by a team that played better football and cared more, and there's no excuse that can deny that.

All my mate's Twitter statuses are going mental at the prospect of France losing, the anti- French Schauenfreude is ridiculous here.

Truth be told, France showed themselves up as a very average side, and lost deservedly.

If they had a manager that the players didn't hate, I reckon they'd be much more of a force. A side that contains Henry, Anelka, Ribery, Gallas, Malouda, Diaby, Sagna and Cisse really shouldn't be as bad we've all just seen. If Domenech had left after Germany '06 I think they'd be in much better shape.

Henry is waning of late.
Anelka has never been the same force at international level
Ribery tries his hardest, but that team around him are a waste of his talents
Malouda could do better after such a good Chelsea season
And the others mentioned I wouldn't see as being enough to make France any class of contender.

Henry still has the touch of class needed to win a game by my reckoning, even if he's not getting any younger. Anelka would be any good if his manager didn't continuously misuse him - the amount of times I saw him dropping deeper towards midfield rather than pushing up not only in this game but against Uruguay was unbelievable. I thought Malouda was better than anyone else in a French shirt barring, of course, Ribery as well - he did, after all, have their only meaningful effort on goal.

As for Cisse, maybe you have a point there, but I still think Gallas, Diaby and Sagna are quality defenders, even if they're not exactly world-beaters or anything.
