On another note, the English media are really pissing me off. The way some of them have droned on since the US game you'd think we were on our way home already. I must have been watching a different game from them, because what I saw was a good (though not brilliant) performance by an England side that was held to a draw only by a brilliant defensive display from the Americans and an uncharacteristic howler from Rob Green. If the latter hadn't happened, I'm sure we'd all be hearing about a solid 1-0 win that could've been 2 or 3. |

That Australia/ Germany match was a joke! Can't believe I actually got up in early hours of the morning to watch it. Kinda expected though, considering soccer/football, isn't really a widely played sport over here.
Am also really annoyed about those droning horn things. So annoying. It constantly sounds like there are thousands of mozzies in the room whenever I have it on :/ |

They were playing against a well past it Australian side, that had recently been well beaten by the USA. Apart from Ozil they have nobody that England should be afraid of, and as usual they had a load of workmanlike players with a couple of experienced heads but they were nothing special. I`d sooner England faced Germany in the knock-outs than really good teams like Brazil, Spain and Italy etc. Player for player England are superior to Germany but the media will do everything to build the very average Germans up as usual and strike fear into the hearts of the English public.

I was away at Download festival this weekend so have relied on highlights and have been catching up today. Also had my first full day of world cup football too. So, now im back im gonna give my two cents here for a couple of things in particular.
Robert Green is the worst of the three keepers Capello put on the plane and so its annoying to see him make the team in the first place. However, although i think its the right of every English football fan to voice their frustrations when it comes to our national team, the players, the management and mistakes made in important games, i also think enough is enough. Should Capello drop him? Id be concerned about the message that would send and the possible consequences in terms of morale and confidence throughout the squad if Capello has indeed decided that Green is his #1 but drops him after making one mistake. I also feel James and Hart would do a better job though regardless of this. But whatever happens, Green shouldnt be crucified by the English media for this mistake and if Capello is going to stick with him then we need to get behind the lad rather than hang him out to dry. The English love to condemn their national team and also seem happy to see them knocked up out of major tournaments as it gives them a reason to slag them to hell and sometimes i think that we love to jump on these mistakes, make enemies out of our own players and have something to complain about rather than maybe cutting the lad some slack and supporting him, thats the English way and now we've all had a little bitch cant we leave him alone? The vuvuzelas are part of African culture. This is what they do at football games. The English chant and sing, as do alot of other countries and the Africans do this. The English (and maybe the rest of the world) want them banned because they dont like them and find them annoying? Apparantly the F.A have confirmed that they will not be banning them but i cant believe this has kicked up so much fuss. If the world cup was being hosted here and other countries were calling for our fans to change and trying to change the way we enjoy a game we would think that this was disgusting and defend ourselves with everything we had. Its ok for us to call for these things to be banned because we dont like them though? Get the fuck out of here! This is South Africa's turn to host the tournament and the vuvuzelas are part of the South African sporting experience. In the papers, on the TV and on the radio ive heard people say they cant concentrate on the game, that they cant hear the crowd, that they had to watch the game without sound and even that the constant noise these horns are making in games other than those featuring African nations show a lack of respect to the opposition and their fans. They arent even that annoying! But thanks to these morons, the majority of the world cup headlines and discussions in the media are already about things other than the football. |

Personally I think the vuvuzelas are about as much part of the matchday experience and therefore as annoying as all the chanting and singing you'll hear week in, week out at Premier League matches; ie not very. I really don't see how it hinders any spectator's concentration on the game any more anyway. I really hope they don't get banned by the powers that be, as it'd really do a lot of damage to what's so far been a tournament hosted in terrific spirit and enthusiasm.
I just hope the football itself picks up in the very near future and takes the focus off all that off-pitch stuff. It's early days yet, but I'm still waiting to see the first unforgettable classic of this world cup, let alone the first potential goal of the tournament. I mean, I fell asleep twice during the Japan-Cameroon game today. |

I agree. I dont find them annoying at all. I think that if i were actually at the game they might do my head in but on TV it looks like the games have a fantastic atmosphere. You can still hear the crowds and it doesnt affect my enjoyment of the game at all.
Even if i did, i would still think it was insane for fans to seriously think that the F.A should stop the fans in South Africa from bringing them to the stadiums. |

I can't wait till tomorrow night.
Brazil vs North Korea..... This is the one I've been waiting for. I'll be disappointed if it's anything less than 10 : 0 I'm guessing North Korea's goal difference will be something like -25 by the end of the group stages.
