I think England will progress from the group without a doubt, but they'll definitely need to be better in the later stages.
I do think that if England are firing on all cylinders in the next round, then they'll have a real chance of winning it... much as it pains me to say that! Though if I was Capello I'd drop Robert Green, I feel for the guy but his confidence must be shattered and he looked dead nervous in the tunnel before the game as well... either way it'll be interesting to see who's the keeper for their next game. |

Reading all these comments, England`s group is probably the easiest group in the WC, as any group that sees USA as second favourites must be weak.
To fathom just how good England are, they need quality opposition which they won`t get until the 2nd round at least. Of the other BIG teams, France were poor and Argentina far from convincing against a devoid of ideas Nigeria side. People read far too much into poor performances early in a tournament and its quite often the slow starters who go onto the later stages. |

All of England`s goalkeepers look nervous, so he hasn`t got much of a choice..........its the team`s achilles heel. We`ve not had a world class keeper since Seaman and even he played a howler against Brazil in his final WC.

I say Netherlands group is even easier than England's. They will most likely win all their games, and draw none. |

U.S. were garbage. If Howard wasn't one of the best keepers out there they would've lost easily. They had about 3 legitimate chances the entire game and couldn't convert any of them.

Even though we only drew I thought we actually played very well and have high hopes after their performance.

They were way too reliant on Howard. If they try to go through the tournament relying on 3 second-half chances (after getting stonewalled in the first) and their keeper playing like the best in the world, they won't go far.

England played better in that game than when they played Mexico & Japan, and they won those games.
It was a disappointing result but it's not the end of the world. Lots of the good teams start off slow and gradually improve. And judging from their last few games England are doing that. I don't think the USA ever really looked like winning that game.

Well see. If America can turn up the heat in the first 15 for a change I think we'll do much better than expected.
