I say Netherlands group is even easier than England's. They will most likely win all their games, and draw none. |

I`d say it was even harder as both Denmark and Cameroon are better than Algeria and Slovenia. Japan are probably a similiar level to the USA though (more technical but less physical)

All of England`s goalkeepers look nervous, so he hasn`t got much of a choice..........its the team`s achilles heel. We`ve not had a world class keeper since Seaman and even he played a howler against Brazil in his final WC.

They were way too reliant on Howard. If they try to go through the tournament relying on 3 second-half chances (after getting stonewalled in the first) and their keeper playing like the best in the world, they won't go far.

England played better in that game than when they played Mexico & Japan, and they won those games.
It was a disappointing result but it's not the end of the world. Lots of the good teams start off slow and gradually improve. And judging from their last few games England are doing that. I don't think the USA ever really looked like winning that game.

Well see. If America can turn up the heat in the first 15 for a change I think we'll do much better than expected.

There is a possibility America could go through to at least quarters as they're a good team, but it all depends on whether they can defend themselves to get there.

If Dempsey is the long-shot (odds wise) taker they make him out to be, I think it will be a deciding factor. Its hard to prep for loose cannons and its clearly making a difference thus far.

I tend to reflect on a match on a general basis. It's not often I pay much interest in stats.
Overall, I thought the U.S.A. were lucky to get their point. In some part due to their lack of penetration along with England's underachievement. It's interesting to see how different people view the same game. I think what is telling, is that most American's are pleased with the point and most England fans see it as a bit of a disaster and a missed opportunity. And I think this is a reflection of how the match panned out. |
