Best players colliding doesn't mean they cancel each other out. It doesn't ALWAYS live up to expectations, because neither side want to lose. Today's game was really disjointed. Slow attacks, laboured performance. Even though they're not supermen, every team are capable of putting on a better show.

Yeah I see what you're saying, even if it's a tight game like today. I still find it very watchable. The tactical side of the game is just as interesting as throwing caution to the wind and going out and attacking. But today was just a let down, France lacked ideas, they were once a great side and they just looked so ordinary it was depressing. But I found the last 10 minutes or so interesting. Uruguay sitting back saying okay, we've got 10 men. Come and score.. France saying okay, we'll try. But France were just so ordinary.
Tomorrow Come on England! Imagine if America took 'soccer' seriously? If they took it really seriously from this day forward. They'd win 2018 and 2022. |

I am disappointed I missed the France game, as we only get certain games played over here on free to air. But at least they are showing us USA vs England tonight.

One day it'll happen. All of us American kids grew up playing 'soccer' just as much as baseball or basketball. There's legions of people here who prefer it to 'football'. One day the US will become sophisticated enough to care (maybe tomorrow?)

I thought that, I know a lot of Americans grow up playing 'soccer' but for some reason you don't produce the great players other nations have. I think it's because you play it but see it as just a game.. I remember growing up and all I ever wanted to do was be a footballer. I'd play it every single day, I'd train myself to use both feet. Over here it's a way of life, results actually effect my mood. I don't think America will have that affection us Brits, especially the English have for it. Which is a good thing cos if you lot took it seriously and started to really go for it, you could potentially be unstoppable.

Unfortunately, my conclusion is that America will at least become a serious competitor as soon as the right businessmen figure out how to generate big revenue with it. As for how good America will actually be on the world-class level, well that remains to be seen.

It should be the nation's favourite sport. Get it sorted Engine. Then again, no one would get a look in if America started WANTING to win, and producing the great players TO win. |
