If it's called right (as it was with the resulting penalty and the sending off) I don't see the need for technology.
Here, the talking point was centred around the pure drama. All played out correctly and without the need for technology. Legendary stuff. When it comes to whether or not the ball crossed the line...show me the replays! |

From what I've read and the highlights I've seen, looks like Uruguay-Ghana was a hell of a game. A bit of a pisser I had to be at work while it was on. Still, at least I saw the Netherlands get past Brazil - miserable first half, but pretty lively from there on. Assuming Suarez is out of the semi, I can see this being the best world cup for 30-odd years for Oranje. |

Uruguay have Suarez and Fucile suspended and captain Lugano got injured therefore they shouldn`t beat Holland but then again........ Certainly agree about the challenges and a great idea |

Excellent idea Bulldog. I think it's important not to stop the game for every little decision, but that would work I think.
And yeah, you've got to fancy the Dutch to progress to the final now. I've a feeling it'll be Argentina-Holland who'll get there. |

Uruguay besting Ghana had the absolute best finish to a game, ever. I was sitting over here with a thumb up my ass hoping Asamoah Gyan would miss that penalty. Imagine my delight when the ball comes in contact with the cross bar? I was in disbelief. I immediately thought about how happy Luis Suarez was at that very moment. Fantastic finish.
Still, I am rooting for the Netherlands in this World Cup.

99% of players would do the same in Suarez`s situation, its a natural instinct to stop the ball going over the line and kind of an unwritten rule for any player to do, if its going to save giving a way a goal. Suarez was punished and sent off and justice was served with the penalty being given, only problem is that Ghana missed the penalty............As for rectifying that, the only thing they could have done, was directly giving the goal because cameras show that it would have definately been a goal anyway, but again we now go into the technology debate once again.

I'm backing Spain for the Paraguay game, but can't choose between Germany or Argentina. Technically I should support Germany (although to my knowledge I have no relatives from there, my surname's German, so chances are that I have), but an old enemy's an old enemy dammit! I guess I can just hope for a good game then. |

I was rooting for Ghana to win with all my heart, so last night was some of the most painful **** I've experienced in relation to football. Still, that's what makes football my favourite game, I can never get the same degree of emotion from any other sport.
