Unfortunately, my country isn't in the WC'10 and probably won't be any time soon... (Our last WC appearance was in 1982 and we were royally raped.) A neighboring country will be in the WC but they are a bunch of pricks so I won't be rooting for them. Instead, I will be rooting for my adopted homeland of the Netherlands. Arjen Robben, all day.
Holland - 2010 WC Champions.

I am hoping for England and Holland do go deep and hopefully one of them win it... Knowing England's beautiful track record, they will do the exact opposite.
I am willing to bet a vast amount of money that South Africa will not score a goal in the group stages and get knocked out with a grand total of zero points. Got my tickets for the England game in PE vs Slovakia i think, and even better, I don't pay for any hotels and ****!!!! |

England to suffer painful defeat in the semis with a debatable decision going against us that makes it hurt just that much more... My dark horses are South Korea, definitely underrated and their strong team ethic will be dangerous. Got a few decent players in key positions too.

As Sweden didn't make it, I will be rooting for the Netherlands. For one thing, I like the country, for another, I think they play better than their recent tournament placements would indicate.

There seems to be a fair few people on here backing the Netherlands.
The last 2 world cups, from what I remember, they were great in the group stages and then when it came to the knockout rounds they fluffed it and played crap. Although in 2002 they did reach the semis if I remember rightly.. |

On paper the Netherlands look great. With players such as Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder to call upon as an attacking outlet they should smash their way into at least the semis. The problem is their temperament. If they're up against it they tend to fold - they don't seem to have the mental strength needed to win a major at the moment.
I can't see past Spain or Brazil to be honest. Argentina SHOULD be there or there abouts - but they have a manager way out of his depth. As for England - as much as i yearn for us to do it I can't see us getting past the quarter finals. We're a bit like the Dutch, we lack that mental strength despite the talent at our disposal. I have a strong feeling Serbia are going to surprise a lot of people this year. They have a solid defence and technically gifted offensive unit, plus they were hugely impressive in qualifying. |
